What's wrong with average? :) just get to know him better :) and like, you could get someone to tell him that you like him, but have them say that you dont know they're telling him that you like him, so then he might have the courage to talk to you about it :) if he looks at you, look back :) just become closer with him, because it'll give him an idea that you want to be closer ;)
Do whatever you're comfortable with, and like, if it doesn't work, then it doesn't work and you can know that you're still amazing whatever happens :)
If he wanted to be with a girl only because they were popular, then he'd be a douche bag ;) xx

i wouldnt know how to hint though :S + he's in the popular group and im just kind of average. me and my friends hang near the popular group but yeah. we're pretty average.

I liked this guy for 8 months, and then after that i finally decided to tell him that i'd fallen for him. It was the best thing i've ever done.

I think, from everything that you're saying, that he does like you back, because if he keeps looking at you, and your friend is close to him and she told you that you two would be cute together, maybe she's hinting that he does like you. Some guys can be really cocky, and can ask out any girl they like, but some guys can be really shy. So i wouldn't say tell him you like him, i mean, you should, but you might not be comfortable with it. So maybe you should sorta hint that you like him back, and then he might get the idea.

But some guys never get the idea... some guys aren't very observant ;)
