Don't tell him you're sorry. =\ You can't help it. Just talk to him about it. You don't have to apologize for something you can't control. Just be honest, and like @lifewithlove said, get him to understand you.

tell him you are sorry, and tell him how you feel, tell him why you do cut(which you should stop, been there, done that) and that might change things. get him to understand you.
