the biggest mistake people make is that they eat 3-4 hours before they go to bed, which you aren`t suppose to do. so eat some fruits & vegetables , if you choose a salad; choose a dressing with low calories or better yet, no cals. make sure this isn`t 3-4 hours before you go to bed; because then you won`t be able to digest. gor breakfast, try a fruit smoothie, those are good for you & wont make you gain weight. stay away from junk foods; and get 30 minutes or more exercise everyday. don`t sit around and be lazy all day either, try going around and cleaning the house, if you have snow then spend some time outside shoveling which is part of the exercise you need every day. Also ; Be sure you get PLENTY of sleep , it`s VERY good for you.

idk what ur beliefs with this are but try going vegetarian for a while. i lost 7 pounds without trying when i first did. with exercise I'm sure you could lose the weight
