Today, in social studies, we were
learning about ancient India.
My teacher told us that there was this thing called
the caste
system.
Basically it was a system in India
that put people into
categories.
Rich, poor, workers, etc.
You would stay in your category for life,
and you couldn't socialize with
anybody who wasn't in your
category.
And
you could never
date or
marry anyone who wasn't in your
category either.
He
then asked if we knew of anything
in today's
society that was
similar to the Indian caste
system.
A girl in the back of the room,
the nerdy
one who barely ever speaks, stood and
said,
"I do. It's called
middle
school."
