Okay y'all I am in need of some major help..
I've been crushing on this really cute guy like all year and he called me pretty but at the time he had a girlfriend, but now they're broken up and recently he messaged me and asked for my number and at first I was kinda in shock but I gave it to him..well it's been like 3 days and he hasn't texted me or messaged me back.  My sister is friends with his cousin and she said that he's really shy but so am I so should I just message him first or wait till he messages me, which could be a long time.

text him. You know that he's shy and you know that it'll take him a while to reply, so you should try to start a conversation if he doesn't. Try to make him feel comfortable and relate to him. You could even try to tell him that you're shy, too to make him more comfortable. If you're mulling over it, remember that even though he was shy, he gained enough courage to call you pretty AND to ask for your number. You must mean a lot to him, then. Go for it. You might regret it later. Like T.S. Eliot once said, "Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go." That quote doesn't have that much relevance to this situation, so never mind. Instead, take Thomas Edison's quote as a motto, "Many of life's failures are experienced by people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up." Just go for it, okay?

You're welcome! Good luck :) When you're about to do it, don't overthink it. Just take out your phone and ask an interesting question. That's always a conversation starter. No, a rant is always the best conversation starter, because then you can both rant and express what you feel and if you don't agree, then you can argue. That's how I've started most of my friendships. By complaining or ranting. I find their true self's by hearing their true opinions through their ranting. Or you know, you can ask if he's alright. You can also ask for an explanation for why he hasn't replied, but that might be too soon. He'll be ashamed for not replying sooner which will make him even more nervous, so that would mean that he might reply for an even longer time. Talking to him in person would be even better. That way he'll have to reply. Do you need any other type of advice? Oh, I asked my brother(who's a guy, obviously.) what that guy's actions mean and he said that he might be playing hard to get. But then I told him that he's shy, so he said that he's probably nervous. Any other advice?
