The Letter. THE CHANGE.
The Lie.
Chapter 67: July 3
*Katia's POV*
I watched as Louis's car disappeared around the corner
before opening the door to Harry's. I was softly humming the
tune of the song that I was listening to just moments before in
Louis's car as I heard the soft click of the lock. Harry was
probably still out with that Autumn girl so after closing the door
I simply threw all of my stuff down on the chair promising myself I
would pick it up later.
I walked back to my room and
grabbed my wall charger. After plugging my phone into an outlet
in the living area I plopped down on the couch. Pulling my feet
up besides me I flipped through the channels. Nothing really
caught my eye until I landed on a track meet. Setting the tv
remote down I settled down into the cushions to watch the
remaining events.
Even though I had no idea who was
running or where anyone was from it didn't really matter. I
was still entranced by it all. I got up during one of the longer
distanced events to get an apple but otherwise didn't move
much.
"After this break the 1600
meter relays will start," the large, grey haired announced
informed us.
I felt my stomach fill with
butterflies at the name of my favorite event. I have always
enjoyed watching the 4x4's, they are the most intense race.
The 400 itself is a fierce race, you have to sprint the entire
time without letting up at all. Now having that being done by 4
athletes in a relay and it becomes one of the best events to
watch, in my opinion at least.
Just 5 short minutes later and I
was watching the first heat of the men's 4x4. It was close
the entire race between a blue and yellow team, each passing each
other until the last lap where the yellow team broke away and won
with a good 20 meter lead. The second heat was getting ready when
I heard the door open.
Quickly glancing back I saw Harry
walk in. As he was slipping off his shoes the familiar sound of a
started pistol brought my attention back to the screen. Instantly
I could tell the grey was going to die out and the red would pull
ahead. I wasn't sure how the other teams would fare
though.
"What are you watching?"
Harry's low voice spoke over the commentary of the
announcers.
"Track, 4x4 relay," I
said absentmindedly. I sat on the edge of the couch cushion, my
heart beat picking up as a red team came up behind the
green. I felt a sift of weight as Harry sat down on the other end
of the couch. My foot started bouncing on the ground as the final
runners started their lap,
"Who is running?" he
asked.
"I don't know, green team
and red team?" I answered him without taking my eyes off of
the screen. Red was starting to make its move, planning on
passing on the second corner.
"Then why are you
watching?" he asked.
"Shh!" I quieted him. I
scooted even farther off of the seat as the red moved over. As
they started to pass green picked up the pace. They rounded the
corner and on to the straightaway, red right on green's
heels.
I stood up from my seat, not able
to sit any longer. My heart was beating a million miles a minute
as I watched. I could hear Harry say something besides me but
wasn't quite certain what he was saying. It was close all the
way to the finish line, both teams pushing to get there first.
Both ended up in heaps on the track after grey fell, accidentally
tripping red.
I was still anxious to know who got
first but I could breathe again. Looking over at Harry I saw him
laughing at me.
"What?" I asked, still on
edge.
"You," he laughed.
"You have no idea who is running and you still got that
involved."
"Oh my god, you can not tell
me that was not an intense race!" I tried to defend myself.
He just laughed and walked back to his room. I stayed standing
until I heard that the green won the race, and that as I
predicted, grey had come in last. Satisfied I turned the tv off
and waited for Harry to return.
He walked back out after exchanging
his jeans for some sweat pants. I watched as he grabbed a drink
from the fridge. He shot me a cheesy smile that I didn't
return. His eye brows furrowed together as he tilted his
head.
"Everything
okay?"
"Louis and I talked
today," I told him. A sympathetic look replaced the
concerned one he wore just seconds before.
"How did it go?" he
leaned against the counter as he took a sip of his blue
drink.
"Fine," I shrugged.
"Until he brought up my dream." My voice changed
from a non caring tone to harsh in an instant.
He cringed, "I'm sorry
Katia I...."
"I'm over it, kind of.
Just don't break my trust again, kay?" I interrupted
him. A wave of relief overcame him once he realized I wasn't
going to kill him.
"I won't," he smiled
walking back over to the couch. "So what are we watching?
Because I'm not watching another track meet."
