"Gabriella, Jeffrey is at the door!" Bay yelled to me from downstairs.
"Okay, I'm coming!" I answer back.
I take my hair out of a messy bun and walk downstairs. Jeffrey and I have been best friends since....forever. Our parents were friends before we were even born. He's a year older than me, but we still get along great. Our mothers have a girls night out with a few other of their friends every Sunday night, so we stay home to watch Bay, my step sister. My father died four years ago, when I was fourteen. He was in a terrible car crash. My mother remarried a guy named Sam- a successful business man who's wife passed away two years ago. I don't like him very much and his daughter is even worst. Sam usually goes on a fishing trip most weekends, leaving Saturday morning and coming back Sunday after midnight.
"Hey." Jeffrey said as I walked into the kitchen.
"Hi." I said back with a smirk.
"What?" He asked, confused by this smirk I always have when I first see him. See, I've had a crush on him for a very long time. Eight years maybe? He's nineteen, I'm eighteen, and we would honestly be perfect for each other.
"I can't tell you!" I said.
"Okay, fine. Yet once again, don't tell me." He answered.
I laughed and looked at him as he ran up the steps into my room. I walk up there and we hang out for a little bit. When we babysit Bay, we don't really babysit. She's ten, she doesn't really need it. We've been doing this since she was eight though, so we don't want to stop.
"One sec." Says Jeffrey as he grabs his phone.
"hello?" He answers the call. After about five minutes he says goodbye and hangs up.
"Gabbie look I'm really sorry...." He says to me.
"About what?" I ask.
"Rach just called and she wants to hang out with me. She said she needed me there because she was watching a scary movie and well...shes scared." He answered.
"Oh, it's fine. Go." I told him with a broken heart. I hated Rachel. She was the most popular girl in school, she was beautiful, shes a brat, and well- she has Jeffrey.
"Sorry.." He said again.
"Jeffrey, its fine." I lied to him.
We walked downstairs and he walked out the door without even giving me a hug. He always gives me a hug. Him and Rachel havn't even been dating for a month and she means more than me. They aren't even right for each other. But this isn't the first time it's happened. It happened last week too, and I'm sure it won't be the last time.
