Outcasts
-Chapter Three-
-Kiev-
Dammit, Loah. DAMMIT! What the
hell were you thinking?" I
yell as we run, the little girl is on my back now. Shiloah wanted
to carry her, but I'm already faster and stronger. "You
could have been captured, or killed." The thought of losing
Shiloah is unbearable. She's all that I have left.
She doesn't respond, she just keeps jogging next to me. Our
pace is slowing, but we're almost at the forest. We hang a
hard left and duck into the trees. This is the hardest, and most
inportant part of our entire journey. This is where they lose our
trail. If we play our cards right. I take a deep breath. This is
where Shiloah is the leader. I let the little girl off my back
and she stares up at us, all huge eyes, freckles, and tangled
blonde hair. The hood of her parka came off, as did all of ours.
I take one of the old blankets and rip off two sections of cloth,
one to tie back Shiloah's red hair, and one to tie back the
little girl's. Shiloah looks at her. "What's your
name, sweetheart?"
"Roane." The little girl squeaks.
"Well, Roane, don't lose sight of us, and don't make
noise." Shiloah says, then, we're off.
