   Colton's P.O.V
*One Year ago*
"Avery... I have to tell you something" I said, taking her hands. Today was the day I was going to tell her, that I was moving to North Dakota for a year. "Of course Colton. Go ahead" She giggled. God, this is going to be harder than I thought... "No matter what, you promise you wont get mad?" I asked, making sure. I didnt want to tell her, then end up being slapped in the face.
"Promise" Avery said, playing with my hand.
"I-I'm moving" I spit out, getting it over with.
"Oh, not biggie. We can still hang out" She said, cheerfully.
That's what I loved about her, she was always so cheerful and giddy.
"No, Ave, I'm moving to North Dakota" I told her.
She smile quickly fell to a frown.
"What...?" She said, shocked by what she just heard.
I gave her a minute to process the thoughts.
"Y-your moving..." She whispered with tears in her eyes.
"To North Dakota" I finished.
As much as I hated the thought of leaving her, but I knew I had to. We're 15 year-old, Sophomores and I dont have anywhere to live.
"Why?" She asked, catching up with herself.
"Tobi got a job over there to build a school. It's the job of a life time Aves"
Tobi was my mom's fiancee, who we were living with.
My dad died when I was 5 from lung cancer, and then about 3 years ago, mom met Tobi.
"Wow. I dont blame you" Avery said, brushing back a strand of her auburn hair.
"Yeah... Aves, promise me you wont forget me? I'll be back for you" I told her.
She stayed quiet for a while, with a smile on her face.
"Okay" She sighed, smiling once again.
"I have to go. Our plane leaves tomorrow" I tell her, smiling.
I'm glad that she understood the circumstances under the choice.
"Alright, bye" She said, hugging me. I pulled her in, for one last kiss before saying goodbye.
"Oh, and Avery?" I quickly said.
"Yeah...?"
"I love you" I smiled, to her.
