Look At Me...Please.
Chapter One
As I layed there on the floor, my phone in one hand and a
crumpled up piece of paper in the other, my mind was hazy.
Everything was silent. I could hear nothing but the sound of my
own breath exiting and entering my lungs. My body hurt, bad. Even
lifting my arm burned. I didn’t know what had happened the
night before, or why I couldn’t think straight. All I knew
was that I had definitely made one of the biggest mistakes of my
life.
I shut my eyes and held my breath, while I slowly unravelled the
piece of soft, pen smudged paper. Cautiously, I opened my brown
eyes. I read the neat writing, and remembered last night. It all
came flashing back to me with a simple:
“Meet me at the bench, 11 tomorrow.
-Torbin”
Let’s start from the very beginning of this story.
When I was 13, I met this boy down my road. We’d both lived
there our entire lives, but never met each other. Torbin
ValChuck, a brown haired, green eyed boy that was 2 years older
than me. We met walking down the road, and we’d been good
friends since.
Now, last night I took a run for my money.
I remember curling my hair, for no reason at all, as I was
probably going to throw it up into a pony tail anyway. A pair of
skinnies and a loose tank top looked casual but flirty on my thin
body, and my make up was nothing more than a small hint of
mascara and eyeliner. My phone vibrated on my vanity.
“be there in a minute
-tor”
I gave my hair a quick tease, and threw on some cute
“boho-chic” flats. I scurried downstairs and headed
outside. That oh –so –familiar silver Saturn pulled
smoothly into my driveway. I flipped the door handle and
jumped inside, settling down as I breathed in his sickly sweet
cologne.
“Cool it on the spray, bud.”
I said, scrunching up my nose as he put his car into reverse.
“Hello, Tori.” He said, staring at me with that look
of sarcastic hurt. His bright blue and green hoodie matched his
dark green eyes. His head touched the roof of his small car, as
I, being only 5 foot 7, wasn’t even close. This kid needed
a bigger vehicle.
I sighed and looked out the window.
“It’s about a half hour away, down by Hank
Falls,”
Torbin’s deep but smooth voice broke the small silence,
reading my mind. I brushed my long, light brown hair out of my
face and quickly cracked my knuckles without really thinking
about it. Torbin took his hand off the wheel and slapped my
wrists.
“Don’t do that in my car!”
He laughed, regaining control of the wheel. I bared my teeth at
him. The rest of the ride was silent, but a calm silent. He
slowed the car down to a halt.
“We’re here,”
How is it? Feddback? Comment please!(:
