When I got home I slept for about three hours. My mom thought that I had come back after she had gone to bed so I was okay. I was grinning every time I thought of Alex. He was really sweet. I thought maybe, just maybe, I might like him a little bit. I grinned at that thought and closed my eyes. My phone vibrated,
Hey Kyla! What's up:)
It was from Jake. I responded,
Not much. Do you know Alex?
Yeah, why?
I swallowed before texting this next this. Should I ask it,
Does he have a girlfriend?
I knew that he had told me he didn't but a popular, and attractive, guy like him must have a girlfriend...
Yes. Her name's Cassidy
My heart sunk as I read this. What? He lied to me. I frowned, realizing I had thought I liked him. I shook my head. Whatever, he has a girlfriend.

The next day was a blur. I remember felling very scared at some times, and freaking out when the teacher called on me. I remember talking to Jake a lot... but avoiding Alex. I ran in to him once in the hall, and saw him holding hands with a girl who I assumed was Cassidy. I had looked down and surried away like the scared mouse I am. And mad. Mad at him for lying.

It was Friday. I had T.G.I.F syndrom, and could not wait to leave school. As soon as the bell rang, I sprinted out of the classroom and ran away before the huge groups crashed through the school. I waited behind the school for my mom to pick me up when I saw Alex approaching. I immediately looked down at my hands. He cleared his throat,
"Hey best friend, why haven't you talked to me for awhile." he asked. Because you lied...
"Oh, I've been busy." I said. I saw Matt drive up and I stood up and grabbed my stuff,
"Well, I didn't know you were in a relationship with Jake." he said, biting his lip. I narrowed my eyes at him. What on Earth?
"I'm not!" I said indignantly.
"Then why-" he was cut off by Matt honking really loudly.
"Look I have to go. Text me later." I said and climbed into the car with Matt.
Why would he think Jake was my boyfriend?
