Im so sick of all the popular girls at my school who say they are depressed and /cut/ for ATTENTION...it ticks me off. I've been depressed before, and it sucks, and to see people mock it like they do disgusts me...thanks for posting this, really.

I can't tell you how grateful I am to have seen this quote today. I got out of the hospital just yesterday after five grueling days of trying to cope with my suicide thoughts, and I was diagnosed with depression there. It IS a mental illness, it IS something people who actually battle depression battle daily and does NOT come in the form of breaking up with your boyfriend. Bipolar disorder is the opposite of depression, depression is being unipolar. You don't just go around saying that you're bipolar when you're just a typical teenager, and it's the same way with depression. Thank you so much for this quote and making people so aware of this. It is genuinely, truly, appreciated.

Depression is a mental illness. But a person can feel depressed. Although their depression may not be severe enough to bring them to their death bed, depression can still be there. Just speaking my mind, thanks :)

i think everyone needs to calllmmm down. this quote is perfect. it's saying that people shouldn't use the word 'depressed' lightly. it's a strong word, as i'm sure you know, since we're all smart enough here. she's not saying that you aren't sad, or you're just doing it all for attention. she's not saying that none of you guys aren't depressed, like no teenagers are, because obviously it can happen. and lately it happens to a lot of people. depression is VERY serious. let's all take a breather.
sorry if i sound obnoxious, I'm not trying to be. I'm just trying to state my opinion on this matter.
