The Truth of Beauty
Chapter 2
I walk into the
doorway. "Hello?" i say cautiously. Not knowing if
my sister did move away, or was just visisting. Since she was 19
and i wa sonly 17 she could do whatever she wanted. I sighed
knowing that she probably moved in with David, since they were
engaged a few months ago. And besides i would have heard her pink
pumps walking about upstairs. I threw my back-pack onto the kitchen
counter. I heard my phone ring. Wich was very strange since no
one really called me often. Then i remebered i gave Clark
my phone number after school. I pikced the phone from my
pocket wich was full of change and a little thing of
chapstick wich was gone. I look at the number making sure it was
Clark, or someone i knew. It was Clark. I set down my book i was
carrying onto the counter and awnswered "Hello?" i said
nervously. "Hey! It's Clark. I was just
wondering... of you wanted to go and hang out... ya'h know.
Maybe that new cafe that just opened up downtown. Or the beach or
anyhting." he said boomingly threw the phone. "Ummm. Sure
i guess. Since its Friday and all," then i paused
thinkiing of somehting to say. My mind had gone blank. Luckly Clark
picked up the conversation for me. I wasn't really good at
small talk. "Well how bout the beach? Its pretty nice
outside." he said humbly. "Sure. Um you
could stop by in 5 minutes or so?" i said while
scribbling down a note for my parents. "Sure. Bye
ill pick oyu up. Be ready." Then he hung up. "Sure im
ready... Ready for anyhting." i mumbled to myself.
~Clarks Point-of-veiw~
I picked up my keys to my blue BWM. I
went into the livng room where my parents sat parrel from
eachother watching TV. "Bye mom, bye dad. I'm going
out. I'll be home by 10 p.m. ." And with that i left
out the door. Walking into the driveway i noticed someone.
Someone watching me. It was Jessica. She had her glossy pink
lipsin a smile and she was on her iPhone. I sighed. Trying not
to be noticed i slipped into my car. Turning on the
engine. And i made my way to Amy's house. Pulling
into her large driveway i noticedthat the tv was on. I couldnt
really see if anyone was wathcing it because the curtain
weren't positioned that way. I rang the doorbell. It too
kabout 10 mnutes for her to open her dark oak door. Her
wide brown eyes matched her long, flowing hair. She looked
stunning. She was wearing a light pink tee-shirt with the words
"HOLLISTER" printed on it, and a pair of jeans and flip
flops.
~Amy's Point-of-view~
I couldn't belive Clark was here. In front of my doorway.
Standing here. About to hang out with me near the beach. I
snapped into reality. "Hi," i said nervously and slowly.
"Hey," he replied. Again his deep green eyes were glued
on mine liek they were when i stupidly fell in the hall.
This time with curiosity. Some kind of child's eyes.
"Are you ready?" he asked. "Oh yeah let me jsut
get my keys." I dashed off into my room. Using all the might i
had to hurry. I didnt want him waiting. I snatched them from my
backpack wich i moved and i headed downstair. Clark was still
there. Leaning on the doorway. Smling. A pang of relief went
through me. Then we both walked to his car in scilence. I slipped
into his suprisingly roomy car. He did the same. And started
the car and he headed up the rode. The light backround msuci
of Foster The People was playing. I played the tune in my
head. Drowning out everyhitng else.
I realized the car had stopped. And we were at
the beach so quickly.
