chapter
13:
"This is Scarlet." He
said pointing towards me, smiling.
I waved around the room to everyone.
A small girl pulled on Adam's jeans, making him lean
forward.
"Yes, Noel?"
"She's pretty." She smiled, showing her two
missing front teeth.
Adam leaned in more.
He spoke softly, but I still heard him.
"I know."
He sat up looking at me.
"Alright guys. I have the instruments in the boxes.
Drums here, guitars there, and more in the other box.
We'll play for fun today." The woman in pink said
infront of the class.
She then stepped away from the center of the room, going 1 by
1 to the people
playing various instruments.
"Come on." Adam took my hand, leading me to the
guitar box.
He took out a beautiful acoustic guitar and a rosey red
pic.
It had seemed planned out.
He then handed me the last guitar left, it was smaller and
more beaten up.
I looked at it, apparently making a disgusted face.
"We can switch if you want." He laughed.
"No, it's cool." I giggled. "I don't
know how to play this, anyway."
We sat back down.
Adam moved his chair into a certain position, leaving his
legs spread at a definite angle,
and placed the guitar on his lap.
I mimiced him.
He laughed as he saw me failing to place it on my lap
correctly.
"Here." He got up, wrapping his arms around me from
behind,
placing the guitar strap carefully around my shoulders, and
leaving the guitar
in a perfect position.
He sat down quickly into perfection.
He strummed across the keys with the pic.
I followed.
Then his fingers slid across the long neck of the guitar, and
he began to play.
"You- you play guitar?" I asked, suprised.
He didn't answer, he just made eye contact with me and
smirked, still playing.
"Do you know this song?" he asked.
I shook my head.
"Maybe with words you will."
He proceeded to sing; Hey there delilah.
"You're good!" I said cheerfully. Maybe too
cheerfully.
"Eh, no big deal."
I had never seen him smile so much before.
Music was something he was amazing at, better than I had seen
before.
It was natural to him.
It made him happy.
I sat there, trying to play,
but the whole time I mostly watched him in awe.
Smiling.
Blushing.
The lady in pink walked over to where Adam and I were both
smiling and playing music.
In my case, horrible music.
She whispered into Adam's ear.
"You've improved. It's nice seeing you
smile."
