Chapter^2
I
had a boyfriend.
But I still went to my first guitar lesson.
Michael wasn't very excited about that.
But me and Cory were just friends.
Right?

"Five, six, five, six, seven, eight!" Olivia barked out
numbers at me as I glided across the stage in our local
auditorium. I was on tonight. Actually, I've been on since my
first guitar lesson. Cory was really nice and patient. With
musical instruments, I'm pretty hopeless. But he walked me
through the notes, gently guiding my hand to the correct
strings.
When I told Michael the reason why I was home late, he got mad.
He accused me of cheating, lying, all the bad stuff. Long story
short, I cried and he finally believed me. He still doesn't
like the idea of me hanging with another guy in his bedroom, but
once I told him that Cory had a girlfriend, too, he started to
feel better about it. Sort of, but not really.
"Turn, down, arms up! START THINKING ABOUT DANCE!"
Olivia yelled and clapped to try to get me back in the
groove.
As the music faded and I stuck my last stance, Olivia motioned to
the Sydney, the light/sound girl, to silence the music.
"Oh crap. I need to get going!" I dashed towards the
side of the stage.
"Wait, WHAT?! You can't leave now. We have at least
another hour's worth of practicing to do!" Olivia
screamed as I ran to the back of the theater and towards the
doors.
"I'll see you tomorrow!" I sprinted out of the
lobby, still hearing Olivia's nagging yelling reviberating
through the building, following me as I walked down the
sidewalk.
I was late for a double date.
With Cory.
Yes. With Cory AND his girlfriend. Cory and I had a practice
scheduled today, but Michael insisted that we have a date-night.
When I told him about the lesson that night, he went all crazy
and yelled again, so I compromised.
As I opened the door to the pizza place, I ran right into
someone.
Yup. Cory.
Again.
"I'm so sorry!"
"We've got to stop meeting like this!" Cory smirked
at me.
"Ugh, like I said, I should have better coordination."
I looked at the ground.
"Hey, it's alright. I was actually just coming out here
to look for you," Cory smiled at me. "I guess I found
you!"
I laughed. "I guess so!"
Cory led me into the restaurant and over to a table where Michael
and Cory's girlfriend, Tahlia, were in deep conversation.
Tahlia is a very beautiful girl. She has long, wavy auburn hair
and bright chrimson eyes. Her eyelashes and legs are super long.
But, she's a very selfish person. Her personality doesn't
quite match her looks. Personally, I have no idea how she snagged
Cory. Cory's so nice and sweet and she's so, well,
not.
"Well hey there," I said as I pulled up a red
chair.
Tahlia flashed me a dirty look and Michael barely looked at me at
all.
I must have looked a bit confused because Cory looked at me and
said, "They've been talking since I came in. They were
both early, I guess. Pretty awkward, they wouldn't even say
hi to me."
"Yeah, that's really wierd. Michael usually has a hard
time opening up to new people." I opened the greasy pizza
menu.
"Nothing I said could get their attention. I tried
everything. Asking questions, telling Tahlia how beautiful she
looked, saying I think I was having a siezure. Aaaaand, nothing.
Nothing at all." Cory took a sip of his pop.
"Huh. Well, let me try." I looked over at Tahlia and
Michael, who were now sitting closer together. "Michael,
I'm sad."
Nothing.
"Michael, I love you."
Nada.
"Tahlia, I love your dress!"
Zippo.
"Tahlia, you're rather ugly."
Zilch.
"Michael, I want to break up."
STILL nothing.
"Wow. You went even farther than I did," Cory looked
impressed.
"Haha, thanks. But I don't know if this is a good
thing.." I looked over at Michael and Tahlia, who were
staring into one another's eyes.
"Hi! My name's Stacey, and I'll be your waitress
today. Is there anything that I can start you all out with
today?" A blond waitress stood by our table expectantly.
"Uhm," Cory looked at Tahlia and Michael, who still
didn't look up, and then back at me. "Yeah, we'll
have two large sausage-pepperoni pizzas. And I'll have a
strawberry smoothie with whipped cream, please." Cory
flashed the waitress a smile.
"Yeah, me too," I looked up at the waitress.
"Ah, I see. One straw, then, I'm expecting?" The
waitress smirked at Cory and I. "You two are such an
adorable couple."
"Wait, what?" Cory's eyebrows bunched together.
"Those two are pretty cute as well, but not nearly as much
of a match-made-in-heaven as you two," The waitress winked
at us.
"Oh, no. We're not a couple," I told the waitress.
"I'm actually with him." I pointed at Michael, who
was moving closer to Tahlia by the minute.
"Uh uh. No way. You are so much better with him," The
waitress motioned towards Cory. "And those two look deeply
in love," she pointed at my supposedly 'boyfriend'
and Tahlia.
As the waitress walked away, me and Cory bursted out into
laughter. We were practically rolling around on the ground. And
yet, Tahlia and Michael STILL didn't look up.
Cory and I started to talk about everything and anything.
Especially my dance life and his guitar.
Suddenly, Michael and Tahlia nodded at eachother and stood
up.
Cory and I stopped mid-conversation and watched them walk
outside.
They didn't turn around to say they were going to be right
back or where they were even going, so Cory and I got up and
followed.
We walked for a long time before we found the outlines of their
bodies in the park by Annalyne Lake. Cory and I ran as fast as we
could, being as quietly as possible, and snuck up behind a bush
to watch.
Then, we saw them.
Cory just opened his mouth in shock.
A small yelp escaped my lips when I saw.
And all I saw was their lips joined as one.
