Chapter^1
"Felicity! I wish you were better at Science. We got a D on
our project. Again." Addie slammed our project's
final grade on the desk.
"Oh. That sucks. Whoops," I shrugged and turned
away. Addie knew I've never been good at Science, and
yet she still chose me as a partner. Her fault, not mine.
"Whatever. God, and this is our FINAL grade! You're so
stupid! Ugh!" Addie stomped away.
"Well, that's cool. Look, I've gotta go." I
walked away, leaving Addie crying in the lab.
Addie is one of my best friends, but she's always been the
over-emotional, bosy, smart one. My other best friend is Kennedy,
the fun, easy-going, beautiful one. And I'm Felicity. The
boring, average, apparently "stupid" one.
Addie always excells in school, Kennedy in sports and social
life. And I excell in nothing. Nada.
It's hard to have those two as best friends.
"Licy! Hey!" Kennedy's light brown, loosely curled
hair bounced as she ran towards my locker.
"Hey, Ken. What's up?" I start to put my books in
my locker.
"Guess who has a date with hottie with a body this Saturday
night!" Kennedy's smile light up her whole face.
"Just guess."
"Hmm... I have NO idea." I played stupid. But I knew
who she was talking about. Kennedy has always been a guy magnet.
"I think I need some help figuring it out..."
"It's Ryan. Can you believe it? Ryan, dating me.
ME!" Kennedy squealed. Ryan is the super hot swimmer.
Although, I never knew Kennedy even liked Ryan.
"Wow, that's pretty cool. Ryan is super hot," I
responded with a small smile. Ryan was never my type, and never
will be. Although, I'm not really sure what my type is. I
don't have a whole lot of experience.
"Oh, I know! I'm so excited! We're going to go to a
movie, that new romantic one, dinner at this fancy restaraunt,
did I mention Ryan has a job? Oh, and a CAR! After that, I think
we'll go walk through the park, you know, the one next to the
lake? Ooooh, and than we'll have a romantic kiss. Not a make
out, just a sweet kiss. It's going to be PERFECT!"
Kennedy's smile was growing larger and larger.
"That does sound perfect. Buuuuut..." I trailed
off.
"What?" Kennedy stopped smiling.
"Well, it's just that I heard that he only really wants
one thing." I pretended to be busy with my bag.
"Not Ryan. He's different. I know it," Kennedy
tried to assure me.
"Well, just be careful. I don't want to see you get
hurt."
"Oh, I know. You're so sweet," Kennedy smiled at
me.
"Hah, thanks. I try. Well, I better get going. I have coffee
with Olivia at four." Olivia is my
mentor/coach/friend.
I am a dancer, and Olivia is one of the best coaches in the
country. She makes me the best at dancing. And a week
from now, dance competition season starts. So
Olivia wanted to meet today to discuss my practice schedule.
Grueling, long, god-awful hours of pure torture. Well, not
exactly torture. But it's a whole lot of work.
"Oh, right, of course. Have fun!" Kennedy gave me one
last smile before sprinting away towards Addie, who still
had tear streaks on her face.
I gave a small smile to Addie, who returned it with a flip of her
straight blond hair and a "hmph".
Addie was about a foot shorter than Kennedy, who was around
5'9". Addie was what you would call petite. She could
never fit into mine and Kennedy's clothes because she's
an extra small, and me and Kennedy are more around the small and
medium size.
Kennedy gave me a small shrug and a "don't worry about
it" smile, so I just turned and walked out the front door of
Annalyne Academy.
I live in the super small, and boring, town of Annalyne, New
York. Downtown really isn't very big, so I walked a few
blocks from school towards the Alive Cafe, where I was meeting
Olivia.
Just as I rounded the corner to the coffee shop, I ran straight
into someone.
I must have had some serious speed, cause he was pushed right to
the ground.
As he struggled to get up, I couldn't help but notice how
attractive he was. Not Ryan attractive, but a different
attractive. I wasn't drawn to his body, although that
wasn't too bad either, but rather to his smile. And his eyes.
AND the very good thing that he wasn't mad at me. I was mad
at myself for running into this nice guy, though.
"I am so sorry!" I held out my hand to help him up.
This guy just started laughing as he tried to get up. It was
pretty hard for him, though, because of the fact his guitar and
papers were strewn everywhere. He grabbed my hand tightly.
"I really am sorry about that," I told him as he was
standing upright.
"Hahaha, it's totally fine. I was hoping to get pushed
to the ground today, anyways!" He smiled a gorgeous smile
and adjusted his guitar strap.
"That shouldn't have happened. I'm a dancer, I
should have better coordination," I giggled and gave him a
small smile.
"A dancer, huh? That's cool," The guy looked at me
and smiled.
"I guess. Do you play?" I pointed at his guitar.
"Haha, yeah, what was your first clue?" The guy winked
at me.
"That's really awesome. I've always wanted to play,
but dance gets me pretty busy." I looked toward the
sidewalk.
"I could teach you sometime, if you wanted," The guy
smiled and looked me in the eye, the way other guys never do.
"That would be amazing. My name's Felicity, by the
way." I held out my hand again.
"Cory." He took my hand and shook it. "Pleased to
meet you, Miss Felicity."
I laughed. "Yes, you too, Mr. Cory!"
"So where were you headed young lady?" Cory tilted his
head.
"Oh, actually, I was headed to meet my dance coach." I
looked at my cell phone. "And, I'm late. God, she's
going to kill me."
"Well, I'm sorry." Cory nodded.
"Why are you sorry?"
"It's my fault. I just HAD to be in the way, so you
would run into me. This is all my fault." Cory pretended to
look guilty.
"Ahahaha, nah. This was a good thing! Now I'll get to
learn how to play the guitar! And Olivia is just going to have to
have another expresso and chill herself." I smiled a real
smile, not a fake one that I use quite alot.
"Well, good. But I don't want to get you in any
trouble..." Cory trailed off.
"Haha, yeah, I guess I better get going." I sighed.
"But, I'll need your cell phone number so I can TRY and
fit you into my very busy guitar-lessons-teaching schedule."
Cory winked his blue eye.
So I gave him my number and walked into the coffee shop feeling
exhilerated. My mood was high, even Olivia's constant
scolding about being on time couldn't get me down.
That's how it all started.
