Invisible
Chapter 6
I seriously didn't know
what to do. I stood in the hallway for ten minutes, staring at
the address written on my hand.
63 eighth street
How could I live so close to a person, and never
know they were my neighbor? My house is 60 eighth street. I live
like 2 houses across the street from him.
The bell rang, interuppting my train of thoughts. I had to go to
study hall in Ms. Richard's room. She was really easy going
so I doubted I even needed to show up, but I needed to stop
thinking about Jake.
What did he mean when he said he'd
"never treat a girl that way. Especially a girl like
me?"
A loser? He'd never be mean to an ugly girl?
I walked into Ms. Richard's room and took a seat in the back
corner. Never again would I sit in the front. Kate ran into the
room with Dylan hanging on her left arm. They sat in the two
seats to the left of me. I wonder if Dylan had the right
intentions. I wasn't even sure if I should doubt Cam yet.
Jake said all the perfect things, Cam said all surprising things.
Who to beleive?
The way Kate was lost in conversation with Dylan made me realize
she had NO idea about the Cam situation. She would have been
very, very mad if she knew what might be going down. I figures
since she wasn't paying much attention to me I might as well
text Lauren and "plan" out what to do with Cam.
"Hey Laurie it's Maura. Plan time. Now"
I waited a good 30 seconds before getting a paragraph sent
back.
"Okay here's the deal! You can't let Cam know that
you know ANYTHING. You have to go looking hot. Like no jeans
anymore. You are wearing my purple dress I wore to Mark's
graduation party okay! I will come over and we will plan
everything out. You can drop the bomb to him later on. Now you
need to make him wish he never told anybody he didn't love
you okay? And if he stands you up, I'll break his
face."
Sounded like a simple plan. I could deal with that.
I started thinking about Jake again, and his gelled blonde hair,
and perfect white teeth. He was too perfect, but I think that
might be what I needed.
The rest of the school day went by as a blur. When I got home I
changed into a really pretty violet crop top, and skinny jeans
with flats. I scrunched my hair a bit and put on some makeup I
had bought with Kate. I looked decent enough to go to Jake's
house.
"Mom, I'm going out, I'll be back." I yelled
while I opened the door.
No response. Typical from my workaholic mom.
I ran into the winter breeze over to Jake's house. I really
should have put on a jacket.
I got up to the door, and after much debating, I rang the
bell.
A familiar face opened the door.
"Hey Maura! What brings you over?" Said Mrs. Collins my
algebra 2 teacher.
Jake Collins. I am so stupid not to be able to think that one
through.
"I'm here to see Jake," I said smiling at her.
"Oh he's upstairs go on up!"
I walked past her into their warm house and walked up the stairs.
I went to the only door that was closed in the hall, assuming it
would be his room.
I took a deep breath as I entered.
"Hey Maura!" Jake said laying down on his bed throwing
a ball at the ceiling.
"Hi Jake..." I said standing awkwardly by the door.
"Sit down Mar. It's time to talk"
Hmm... talk? about what?
What will Maura do? I'll post later tonight<3 Feedback
