Heartbreaker
Chapter 1

I've been in love twice. 
The first time, was the type of love you only have once. The young, alive love that leaves you breathless, and smiling at night.
If you don't keep your eye on it for a second, you could lose everything. 
I'll always remember that summer. Just me and Cayden on the beach. Jeremy was in the beach house with my mother and his. We got lost for hours, but we laughed the whole time. I was twelve - my hair was braided, and I had on my favorite dress - it had red and white stripes. He was thirteen and so was Jeremy. They were twins.
I thought Cayden was so cool. He was always more mature than Jeremy, so I always thought he was older. 
I knew that I was blushing when he grabbed my hand. 
We lied down onto the sand, and looked up at the sky. I remember in that moment, when he counted the freckles on my nose that only appeared in summer and I looked away feeling self-concious. 
"You might just be the prettiest girl I know, Ellie." He said in his cool, calm way of his. 
I looked over at him, and I knew I was in love with him. My best friend, who I'd known forever.
He had my heart. 
At twelve years old.
And so we fell asleep, holding hands. Completely innocent, just two kids - but I felt the sparks.
