Midnight Rain

Chapter 16

Hazel's POV

 

Once Jake and I get home it's 10 o'clock.

"I'm sleepy." I say to Jake.

"Let's go to sleep then." He says, and kisses my head.

I grab his hand and pull him upstairs.

I change into some booty shorts and a tank top, while Jake just has on boxers.

We crawl into bed and I lay my head on Jake's chest.

"Night, beautiful." Jake whispers.

"Night, babe." I whisper back.

Then I fall asleep.

 

Jake's POV

 

After Hazel falls asleep her phone rings, next to her.

I quickly pick it up and answer it, so she doesn't wake up.

"Hello?" I whisper.

"Uhh, Jake?" Josh says.

"Yeah. What's up?" I reply.

"Uhh, nothing. I just.. wanted to see.. if Hazel wanted to hang out.." Josh says nervously.

"Hazel? Hang out with you? Alone? No." I say, angrily.

"Okay, bye." Josh hangs up.

I set Hazel's phone down and then fall asleep.

The next morning I wake up and Hazel is looking at me.

"Morning." She smiles and lightly kisses me.

"Hey." I reply, thinking about Josh's call.

"You okay?" She says.

"Mmm," I say, "After you fell asleep last night Josh called you.." I say.

"Really? What'd he want?" She says, puzzled.

"He said he wanted to 'hang out.'" I say.

"I am not hanging out with him, without you." She says.

I just nod.

"Let's go eat something." I suggest.

"Oh..kay.." She says.

We get out of bed then walk downstairs.

I grab a bowl, spoon, cereal, and milk.

She just sits across from me.

"Why aren't you eating?" I ask.

"Not hungry." She replies.

"Hazel. When was the last time you ate?" I ask, and she shrugs.

"Hazel," I say, "Please eat."

She shakes her head and says,

"I'm not in shape anymore."

I sigh.

"Hazel, you're the perfect shape." I state.

She shrugs and walks upstairs.

I hear the shower turn on and when I'm done I walk upstairs.

When I walk into our room, she walks out of our bathroom.

She only has a towel on.

I see new cuts on her wrists.
