September 6,2009 (continued)
When my mom got home early, Me and my brothers were just watching TV together. I was in a good mood so i decided not to spend the night in my room. It was only around 8pm and she shouldn't have been home til midnight tonight, so we were all confused. Something had to be wrong. She had that look in her eyes.
"What happened, why are you here so early? What's wrong?" Adam asked nervously. He was always the one who had to ask mom the questions, Keith, Chris and I all get too nervous doing that kind of stuff.
"Just your dad and his new wife. Do you believe they have the nerve to invite me to their kid's baptism?" She said, her voice cracking.
It's only been about 6 months since Dad left; and in those 6 months, he got a marriage certificate with another woman and a blood test proving that he was the father of her baby. Scum. We all migrated to the kitchen table to talk mom out of her breakdown.
When we calmed her down, Chris mustered up the guts to say "Listen mom, dad is scum. He's not a part of this family. He never deserved us. Why did you leave work early? Was it because of him?"
"No no, honey." Mom said laughing. Why is she laughing now?
"Well why then?!" I asked. I don't like her mood swings. I never understand them.
"Well actually, I'm not home for a bad reason. Your father isn't the reason I'm home. The manager decided that i deserved less hours on saturday that way i can see my kids more. I never see Chris and Jackie, Keith and Krystal, Adam and his band mates, or you anymore, Catherine. I love all of you guys and your friends and it's not healthy for me to never see the people i love, so i talked to my boss and I have less hours on Saturdays. Then, in 3 or 4 months, i should start getting Saturdays off." She said excitedly. She was like a kid on Christmas right now. I haven't seen her this happy since before Dad left. So we ate dinner together like a happy family and watched DVDs of Ren and Stimpy for the rest of the night, laughing and quoting the tv show and just having an all around good time.
