so uh, actually, there's an unkown number of planets. there's 8 in this solar system (not counting dwarf planets, because then we'd be up to around 30 at least). but there are more solar systems in the Milky Way Galaxy that we don't know anything about, and then there's more galaxies than anyone could ever possibly imagine, so there's a hell of a lot more than just 8 planets. sorry to get all scientific, but i kinda wanna be an astronomer when i grow up.
