POV
I watched Kellie look in both
directions before she hurried across the street to get in the car
“Who’re you looking for?” I asked, smiling. She
didn’t return the smile, instead she looked jumpy and nervous
“What are you talking about? I have no idea what you
mean.” She said, and turned on the radio as a distraction. As
we listened to Diamonds Aren’t Forever, I wondered what was
going through her mind. Had I come on too strong? Was she tired of
me already? “Kellie, I…” I started, but her eyes
had teared up. As we drove, I pretended that I didn’t hear
the resisting noises she made from trying to hold back her tears.
From the corner of my eye, I saw her looking beautiful as ever, but
completely and utterly broken.
