Chapter 3
Jessica's POV.

I walked over to Justin and he put his hand on my back. I didn't shed a single tear at this funeral. My mom fell into step beside me and I took her hand in mine. She had been crying the whole time. I wondered silently to myself if she would ever smile again. I would make sure that it happened. We got to the limo and it was silent the whole ride home. I walked through the front door. I embraced the feeling that it gave me. It felt lonely and empty. There wasn't any furniture anywhere. Only the built in things like a fireplace. My mom stood by the fireplace even though it wasn't on. It was already November but there surprisingly wasn't any snow. I left Justin and my mom standing downstairs. They knew I wanted time to myself. I walked up the stairs slowly. I took everything in in my own way. I ran my fingers along the brown smooth railing as I walked up the stairs. I walked passed my parents' room right to my room. I looked inside. There were teeny tiny holes in the wall that failed to be covered up from my many Justin Bieber posters in my room. I had taken them all down and packed them into a giant box. I looked one last time at my room. I walked in it and inhaled the scent of my strawberry shampoo and Dream Angels Heavenly Victoria Secret perfume. I looked in my closet. My big walk-in closet. The pencil marks from my height chart were still faintly there. I remembered when my dad used to come in and say, "Time for a measure!" And I would hop up from my princess bed and run to the wall so that he could measure me. I smiled sadly at the memory. I looked at the shelf above my head and saw something in the corner. I took it out. It was a journal. I opened it and an envelope fell to the floor. I bent down to pick it up.
Dear My Lovely Jessica,
I want you to live your life as carefully as you can. Don't regret anything. When you are reading this, I will probably be gone. I'm having a great time here in Heaven though. I want you to know that I will always love you. I never thought badly of you. Tell Justin that I give him permission to marry you. I love you, Little Bear.

P.S. I am smiling down at you right now
I tucked the note carefully in my clutch. I took the journal out from under my arm. I opened it. There was a note on the front page. It was my dad's handwriting.

Dear Little Bear,
I want you to write once in a while in this book. I picked it specially out for you in Germany when we were stationed there. I don't want you to be sad that I am gone. Always remember the happy things about me. Words of wisdom: Appreciate the little things in life because they will turn out to be bigger things later in your life.
I love you forever and always.
Daddy.

I watched a single tear fall down onto the journal. I looked around at my room. It would be one of the last times standing in this room. I walked out the door and closed it silently behind me as if there was a sleeping baby in there. I walked back down the stairs and Justin and my mom were waiting.
"Are you ready?" Justin asked. I placed my journal on the counter. I walked next to him and nodded.
"I'm ready."

this is so sad. this means so much to me that you are writing this, i cried. my daddy used to measure my height in our kitchen before he passed.. keep writing ,your amazing :)
