I needed to call Drew.
I needed to know that she still wanted to be my
friend. Although she didn’t feel the same way,
I loved her. I needed her. I needed to know that I
could always call and she’d be there, and know
that she trusted me to do the same.
“Hi, hello?” she answered the phone.
I laughed. She always said that when she answered.
“It’s Colton.”
“Oh, hey, Colton,” she said.
“I’m home if you wanna hang out,” I
said.
I could tell she was smiling when she said,
“Sure thing! I’ll be there in like a
second. You gotta tell me about this girl, you
know.”
I smiled. Rory. I really liked her. I know that I
liked Drew better – I loved Drew.
But Drew really wasn’t an option, so I decided
maybe I should try to get to know Rory. Maybe I could
love her someday.
Drew's Pov:
“… and she has really big brown
eyes,” he finished.
I tried to smile and be happy for him. I know that
the kiss last night meant nothing, but I desperately
wanted it to mean something. At least I could pretend
that it meant something before. Now, it obviously
meant nothing. “You two seem perfect for each
other,” I lied.
Wow, I must really love him. As miserable as I am
without him, I’d rather he be happy with
someone else than have no fun with me.
“Thanks,” he said. “But I really
don’t know that much about her. We have to get
to know each other before I can be sure that
she’s perfect for me. Anyways, any new things
with you?”
I shook my head. Well, the boy of my dreams
kissed me, I thought, but it
wasn’t real. He likes Rory, not
me.
“There has to be something,” he said.
I shook my head again and sat back on his couch.
“Nothing at all.”
Colton's Pov:
Drew went home pretty quickly because she felt sick.
I really wanted her to feel better – she
didn’t deserve to be sick when she was the most
amazing person in the whole wide world.
I took the sticky note out of my pocket and punched
Rory’s number into my phone. I saw a little
note at the end, and looked at it. It was a little
smudged, but I could still read it.
