AND TODAY,
i was out to dinner. at the table
next to me, was a middle school soccer team. The table sat
bunch of girls with straightened hair and makeup, a coach who was
on her blackberry obviously not paying attention, and at the end,
sitting alone, was a girl who was different from the rest. she
didn't have the fashionable clothes, or the beauty. i felt bad,
but left it alone. a bit later i heard something i was all too
familiar with: giggling, whispers and mean remarks. the girls
were talking about the one girl on the end of the table, and they
had slipped salt into her drink, trying to make fun of her. i
looked over to the girl on the end and saw a tear slowly run down
her cheek. i went over and put those girls in their place, telling
them they could never do something like that ever again and much
much more. i think they understood, and the girl came crying to me
after in the bathroom, thanking me over and over again. this
actually happened.
THIS IS

ARE AFFECTED.
AND TODAY, i was out to dinner. at the table next to me, was
