I woke up to a baby crying. I opened my eyes, still in the hospital bed. I scooped up Kara in the crib and placed her in my arms. Logan was beside me, his head on the bed, him sitting in the chair next to me. He was fast asleep.

Kara yawned, stretching. I kissed her little fingers. Suddenly, Logan sat up, his hair wild. “Shoot. I fell asleep,” he muttered.

I laughed. “Logan. You can go home. Even my mom left for a little bit.”

“Yeah she doesn’t like me very much. Kept giving me the evil eye,” Logan mumbled. I smiled.

Kara’s eyes shut, and she fell asleep. I lay her down in the crib. Then I leaned back into the pillows, my nose wrinkling. “Something smells. It’s either me, you, or Kara,” I said, giggling.

            He grabbed my hand and sniffed it. ”Definitely you,” he said jokingly.

            I smiled. I didn’t move my hand.

            He leaned in close to me. “I think what you did was so brave Hannah.”

            My heart started pounding.

            “I’m so glad you kept our baby. That you put up with everyone’s crap,” he whispered.

            “I couldn’t let her go,” I said, my voice cracking.

            “Hannah, I’m sorry. I’m sorry for what I-”

            “Oh god Logan. Don’t apologize. I am a wreck right now,” I sighed.

            He moved closer, brushing my hair out of my face. “You need some sleep,” he whispered. But neither of us moved. Slowly, I sat up, until my face was leveled with his. He took my hands gently, then leaned in. My lips met his. My heart soaring. He pulled away, carefully. He gave me his goofy grin. “Get some sleep.”

            I scooted over on the bed, patting the open side next to me. He hesitated, then gently sat down next to me. I lay my head on his shoulder. I didn’t care what came next. I had Ari and Ash. I had my beautiful little Kara. And for now, I had Logan. That’s all I need right now. For the first time in a long time, I was purely happy. It didn’t matter what happened next. As long as I had them.
