Late July Night
She
just turned 15 and he was halfway through 16. Eight
months
together and they were
invincible. It was a cloudy
night in the
suburbs and the street was
shining like glitter with puddles on
each end. Walking hand in hand, hearts beating fast, like
the first
night they met. He stopped by the bridge, grabbed her
waist and
she hugged him, clinging to his shoulders, on the tips of her
toes.
A tear, so small and invisible rolled down her
cheek as she let go
His eyes gleamed as he leaned in for a gentle kiss, but she
slowly
turned her head away and let his kiss slide down her
cheek. He
let her go and his eyes pleaded
for an answer, just as she said,
I
can't
do
it
anymore
