ALYXIS MARIE HOLTER
On September 9th, 2011 at 7:43 pm my sister Alyxis commited suicide.
It wasn't until two hours later around 9 o'clock, I found her unconscious
in the bathroom tub. I immediately called the police and ambulance whom
came rushing faster than expected. I remember the police car lights
flashing rapidly, painting our whole neighborhood town cherry and blue.
They took her to the hospital, where I stood by her side all night long.
It was just such a lost feeling, staring at your sibling whom you loved
and protected for so long - I felt like a failure at protecting her and not
being there because I wasn't there when she needed me the most.

On September 10th, 2011 around 3 o'clock in the morning, my sister was
pronounced dead from prescripted drug overdose. I was by her side when it happened.
From then on, I felt like my world was slowly crashing down, all the accomplishments
and memories I had built around me collapsing. I notified our parents when
Alyxis died and they came as fast as they could. They draped themselves over her
lifeless corpse - this moment was the first time in over three months they had
held their daughter in their arms. I remember the misty-eyed nights alone in
my apartment with no accompained sounds of her music or her rummaging
in the kitchen to fix herself a snack. It was all gone now, and the only thing
left of her was her belongings. We buried her body in the nearest L.A. cemetary,
where I have been visiting her grave everyday since the day she had departed
us.

Through the few weeks without Alyx, I regained my strength as a brother of
a fallen sibling. I think about her often and she is always, always on my mind.
She was a very good sister with a heart of gold. No matter whatever happened
to her, she was always laughing and smiling about it. Her giggles are something
I can never forget.

Unfortunately she had developed strong depression that impulsed her to commit
suicide. With our parents fighting with her, the people at her school, a lack
of self-confidence (no matter how many times I reminded what a wonderful
person she was), and more personal issues, she was driven to do what she had
been battling for so long.

I'm sorry Alyxis. For not being there when you needed me most.

Thank you, everyone, who has supported my sister and brightened her day.
There were days when I saw her smiling again because of what someone
had said to her kilometers away. I appreciate all your help in changing apart
of my little sister's life.
