I felt my heart racing as we flew through the night sky. I turned to look at my adopted brothers and sisters. I shouldn't have though, because immediately I saw Aria and Luna crying. I stopped and so did the others. "We have to go back and see if she's ok!" Aria cried almost right after we stopped. I pushed my long blonde hair out of my face. "Aria we can't, Sia told us to keep flying." I told her lightly. "We have to go back!" Luna sobbed. "We can't," Talon said surprising us all "We'll be killed." Luna and Aria had been so surprised that Talon had actually talked, that they had completely stopped crying. "Whoa, dude you just talked!" Chance pointed out. "Really? I thought, I had just been thinking to myself!" Talon said sarcastically. Well, he had said more words tonight than the past six months alone. "We need to keep flying." I told them. That's when we heard a plane, wonderful. "Or walking." Chance suggested. I sighed and nodded, even though flying was way faster than walking. We all touched down and began walking towards the woods on the left. When we started through the woods, Luna almost tripped once when her foot got caught on a tree root. "We need to go somewhere to sleep, and soon." Aria groaned rubbing her eyes. "Trees." I said simply. They all looked at me. "We can sleep in the trees." I pointed out. "Oh, well that's not what i meant, but ok." Aria said. I spread my wings and flew to the top of a huge oak. The other found their own trees. I thought that I wouldn't go to sleep, but as soon as I laid my head back on the trunk my eyes closed and I was out like a light.
My peaceful sleep didn't last long, though. I was woken up by a howl piercing the night. It wasn't a normal howl either. It had come from something big and at the base of the tree. I looked down and felt my skin crawl. There was an eight foot wolf down there. I looked for the other four and saw that they were waking up, too. Luna's eyes widened when she saw the wolf at the bottom of my tree... and her's, and the others, too. My breathing sped up. I tried to think of what to do, and all that came to mind was our training. Wait, our training. That was it! We'd been taught how to fight, but until we knew more about the eight foot tall, five in number, wolf pack, I wasn't taking my chances. I stood on my branch and shouted "Formation one and fly!" Everyone understood. We all took off in five different directions and met in the air above the tree cover. I sighed. "This is not turning out well."Aria said. I looked at her and nodded. "That pretty much sums things up." I said. We all turned and headed northeast.
