chapter one
"He sooo likes you!"
I smiled while poking Cecilia. She was shaking her head and denying everything. Even if she knew that we knew he liked her, when she liked him, she would just ignore us. I sighed, "Okay.. live a lonely life, and die alone..." I dragged on the last word until she pushed me. I laughed, "Gotta problem?"
"Yeah, you. So shut up!"
I laughed. If only she knew that I wouldn't. Liam came over and slid in the seat across from me.
"Hey."
"'Sup?"
"Not much, bro."
"That's cool, sis."
We laughed. That was our insider. I called him 'sis' and he called me 'bro.' Most people would probably take that the wrong way, but lucky for us, we weren't most people. Lydia pushed through the door of the classroom, her hair covered in dirt and filled with leaves. She had blood trickling down her forehead and her clothing was soaked with it. Some girls let out shrieks, a few guys sucked in their breath, and I couldn't help but yell "Lydia!"
She was staring around wildly, "Werewolf! It attacked me! It-it had orange eyes and-and..."
"Miss Partner, shh, it's okay. You're safe now.." Mr. Stiles ran over to her and put a hand on her back, holding her hand to make sure she didn't fall over or pass out from blood loss.
The once quiet room burst into whispers, some frightened and others excited. I looked at Cecilia and Liam, who were staring in horror at our classmate. Mr. Stiles, was looking around. "Stay in your seats, we need to go to the nurse and get the principal."
Lydia cried, "But it was Aiden! He's the werewolf!"
Aiden Kane is the most popular, and may I add hottest, guy in our school. He was one of those jocks that actually had more than three IQ points and actually passed tests and quizzes. There was no way he would be a werewolf. Well.. where was the proof that he wasn't? The question echoed in my head as I watched Mr. Stiles pull Lydia out of the classroom. "What do you think happened?" Liam burst out as soon as they were out of sight.
I stared blankly at him.
Lydia was one to lie, but she wasn't that good an actress. Maybe she was attacked by some animal and took it the wrong way.
"Maybe it was a wolf... but it couldn't be a werewolf. They don't exist, right?"
Cecilia looked over at me, "Do we have the proof?"
I stared at her. Cecilia wasn't one for the fantasies of vampires and werewolves, mermaids and angels. She was one for those teen girl novels that were given stupid names, like "Drama on Eighteenth Street" or "What My Boyfriend Will Never Know."
"Who are you and what have you done with my Cece?"
Liam looked at me, "It's definitley an alien attack. They've already gotten to Cece and failed with Lydia."
He had such a serious look on his face, that I almost believed him. Then, the sparkle in his eye told me it was fake. We both burst out laughing and then looked at Cecilia, who wasn't laughing.
"Liam. Nekoda, be serious. Something's happened and I don't think Lydia was lying."
"Oh, so now Lydia tells the truth?"
"If it was that serious, then yes."
I couldn't believe my ears. Cecilia bashed on Lydia the most out of the three of us, and she was taking Lydia's word.
"Aiden can't be that perfect. So who says that isn't his flaw?"
I gaped at her. Liam was giving her the same look as I was. And suddenly, over the loud speaker, came our principal's voice.
"There has been an unidentified animal attack in the outside of our school. Stay with a friend anywhere you go and do not hang out alone."
I stared at Cecilia and Liam. "Buddies?" They both nodded.
I could tell everyone was freaked out. I mean, I definitley was. And Cecilia's words were still floating around my mind.
Could there really be a werewolf?
