You should ask him for a little "break".
Tell him what you honestly feel.
He should respect it.
You can still talk to him but a bit less than usual, don't cut off communication entirely.
He should know, us girls, are very fragile. The tiniest things can break us apart.

I know where you're coming from.
My first true relationship lasted 3 years.
& he, too, was the guy I had my first proper kiss with.
We did everything together.
I really thought we were gonna build a future together.
We planned every single bit of it but it wasn't meant to be.

Some people come into our lives, not to stay but to teach us a lesson.
There were lots of amazing things that happened during your relationship, you can save them as memories. Think of it in a positive way.

I'm not saying delete everything now.
It will take time but once you're ready, *delete delete delete* & you will cry, yes, I bawled my eyes out but, now, I'm perfectly fine. I am actually friends with him & you will get to this stage too. I promise.

& there's no "too much", write me an essay and I'll still help you out.

What you should know is that you can never ever "stop" loving anyone; what you can do is move on 'cause you know he'll never be yours.

First step is just throwing away everything that belonged to him & all the things he gave you.

If you ever feel like you wanna cry and breakdown, do it. Just let it all out, don't be afraid to show people you're weak, 'cause if you build up pain then it will be much harder to move on later.

Most importantly, mix around happy people & try your best to avoid "couples".
An atmosphere filled with positive energy will make you emotionally happy too.

When you really feel you're ready for a new relationship then start dating. You will be perfectly fine.
Though this may take weeks or maybe months, you will get amazing results.
