    When somebody touches you,
and you really don’t wanna be touched,
    that’s not really being touched.
You still got you inside of you.

All parents damage their children. It cannot be helped. Youth, like pristine glass, absorbs the prints of its handlers. Some parents smudge, others crack, a few shatter childhoods completely into jagged little pieces, beyond repair.

you tried to talk about it
    once, afterwards.
    you named it
and laid down until it was over.
    you named it
    and you watched people
    walk away from you.
    you named it
    and felt ashamed.
    you still said its name.

A lot of people feel like they’re victims in life, and they’ll often point to past events, perhaps growing up with an abusive parent or in a dysfunctional family. Most psychologists believe that about 85 percent of families are dysfunctional, so all of a sudden you’re not so unique. My parents were alcoholics. My dad abused me. My mother divorced him when I was six…I mean, that’s almost everybody’s story in some form or not. The real question is, what are you going to do now? What do you choose now? Because you can either keep focusing on that, or you can focus on what you want. And when people start focusing on what they want, what they don’t want falls away, and what they want expands, and the other part disappears.

We've heard you were a victim.
Stop crouching in the shadows, chewing your hair.
You can be graceful, not like a ballerina,
    like a hedge of coral,
built up and eaten and worn down
yet alive, carving the rhythms of the seas.
You can be a threshing sledge,
new and sharp with many teeth.

it hapened when I was young
still developing as they call it
so it's easy to take it as blame
to take my trauma and name it
    my creator, my genisis
because it has made me the strong woman I am
    today, right? made me survivor.
made me miserable to be honest
made me crazy. Made me say no
to drinks and parties and men
made me mad, made me vengeful
made me the match to the gasoline
the lade in the river, overflowing
    too much rain
    mostly it made me scared
of dark and men and myself
of power, of currency, of expectations
    broke me, really broke me
and made me stand up without feet
made me walk and run without feet
made fun of me as I fell without feet
until I walked, and then grew feet
then made me strong. Made me survivor
    made me example of survivor
    good survivor
    I would have walked
if I never lost my feet
I would have been strong regardless
there is no creator but myself
    I had to learn again
to lose the mad and gain compassion
to become the flower instead of the dager
the smile instead of the punch
    but I got there regardless

I do not remember all of what happened
I see the bruizes , the marks that come
    and go and sometimes stay
    on my skin
I do not remember where they came from
the accidents, the pain, the glow
all of it is lost on me
    so I torture my memory
look for the years that have worn me down
in this state of constant obivion
to the suffering I have endured
is it possible to become soft again
    covered in this hard skin?
    if day old scabs remind
    you of years old trauma
is it possible to start over
when your skin refuses to forget
what your brain refuses to remmeber

    Traumatic experiences are
    broken bones of the soul.
    If you engage in the
    process of recovery,
    you get stronger. If you
    don’t, the bones remain
    porous, with permanent
holes inside, and you are considerably weaker.

I don't talk about you anymore. I don't run and hide like prey when someone touches me. I dont close my eyes at night and see your face seared into my eyelids. the scars from your hands are no longer burned into my soul. Youre a dark mark in my past and nothing else. I am stronger than you. I am stronger than what you've done to me. You have no power over me.

humor helps trauma, we just want to
know that you’re laughing with us. we can
joke about it because it’s ours to joke about.
similar to how our bruises are ours to poke at,
and yours to keep away from

days will go by and I will notice only the world
how it goes how it goes, the way it always did
    days still turn into nights
the sunliht can't keep me safe forever
and te night is always chilly at 1 AM
weeks will go by and I will only notice myself
how I go how I go the way I always did
I still eat my chcken wings
but check on myself every now and again
how my breath always stops at 1 AM
months will go by and I will notice only other people
how they go how they go the way they always did
    they still judge and stare
but do they notice how my eyes flinch at the wrong times?
how I always dissapear at 1 AM
years will go by and I will only notice my heart
how it goes how it goes, the only way it can
the cement never got to the cracks
but it build walls of iolation where no ones eye can gaze
and inside of them it's always 1 AM

There are a hundred things she has tried to chase away the things she won't remember and that she can't even let herself think about because that's when the birds scream and the worms crawl and somewhere in her mind it's always raining a slow and endless drizzle.haunting the places in her mind that she rarely ever visit

Can I ask for a favor guys?
    It's really serious
on tuesday night there was a really bad car accident involving three kids from my hospital. They were all football players coming home after practice and they were going 90 miles an hour around a corner and the car went airborne and hit two pine trees then a pillar. The guy who was driving was thrown through the windshield (yes he had a seatbelt on.) the kid in the passengers side got stuck under the car and the kid in the back needed stiches. the boys int he front were flown to another hospital. One of the boys suffers from brain damage, two broken legs, a broken wrist and a punctured lung. The other one had to have brain surgery a few days ago and is in a coma. My community is broken and we need prayers to help get these boys back on their feet.

Do not tell people how to cope with traumatic experiences. If they don't want to vent to anyone, let them. If they want to vent to a boy they met a week ago, let them. If they want to tell strangers on the internet, let them. If they want to paint their story on the side of their house, let them. If they aren't hurting anyone, let them cope however the hell they want. And don't you dare ever say, "If that really happened to you/if it was really that bad, you wouldn't be doing [insert whatever here]." Because everyone handles traumatic experiences differently and you have no god damn right to judge what is or isn't a real coping mechanism.
