But don’t touch me, I’ll die. To get more romantic, I want to know what makes you weep, so I know when me and you should be back to back ready to take on what scares you. I want to know what turns you on so I can do all in my power to keep on a lustful high. I want you to get to know me, so you can validate my existence.”

We had been trying to be adults since we were 15.
When we finally reached 18, nothing changed.
It wasn't till we were lying on the bathroom floor,
Drunk and high in two different states,
That we realised, age is just a number,
And reality is learning there's no such thing as being an adult.
You only grow older and if your'e lucky, Maybe, a little bit wiser.

    The Statue
    A short scary story
It was about 7:00 PM and I was on my way to babysit one of my mom's friend's kids. Yeah, confusing, I know. Anyways, he was only about six years old, so I figured it would be a pretty easy job since his bedtime was probably only an hour away. Plus, I'd heard that the family was pretty wealthy, so the pay was probably decent. The house was only a few blocks from mine, so I decided that I would just walk there.
When I first arrived at the house, the first thing I noticed was how incredibly large the house was. For a family of three, this thing was way too big. It was three stories tall, as wide as two of my houses put together, and I even spotted a pool peeking out of the backyeard. Dang, I thought. These people must be rich! Once I was inside, I was even more awestruck. A large staircase stood at the other end of the room with large pillars on either end, a beautiful grand piano stood to my left, and above me, a crystal chandelier sparkled in the light.
"Toby is in the other room doing a puzzle, so that should keep him occupied for a while," said Mrs. Mendoza, gesturing to a room upstairs. "Just make sure he's in bed by eight." I nodded, still dazed by the spectacular view in front of me. "Well, I'll leave you to it! Thanks again," she added before walking out the door with her husband.
I've got to say, the next hour was pretty uneventful. It mainly consisted of me watching Toby struggle to put together a 50 piece puzzle. Once it was 8:00 (finally!), I put Toby to bed. His bedroom, like everything else in that house, was extroardinary. He had a flat screen TV and everything. After I had tucked him in and turned off the light, I went to explore the house. I found some pretty cool stuff, including a pool table, ping-pong table, fooseball table, and pretty much every other table ever invented.
I eventually found the biggest TV I've ever seen and sat down in front of it, flipping through channels. Finding an old horror film, I was about to settle down when something caught my eye from the corner of the room. Turning my head, I noticed that there was some sort of statue standing in a dark corner of the room. Looking closer, I realized that it was of a clown. Yikes, I thought, These people have issues. Seriously, who would keep a clown statue in their house? It was really creepy looking, and it almost looked like it was staring at me. After looking at it for a few more moments, I reluctantly returned to my movie. Okay, just don't look at it. Don't look at it. I tried to get into my movie, but the statue started to seriously freak me out. It wasn't helping that I was watching a horror film. After a few more minutes, I just couldn't take it anymore. I had to get it out of the room, or at least cover it with something.
Turning off the TV, I slowly rose from my seat and backed out of the room, eyeing the statue. Why was it disturbing me so much? Once out of the room, I turned on my heel and headed straight for the kitchen. Finding Mrs. Jone's number, I quickly called her.
Mrs. Jones answered on the third ring. "Brooklyn," she cooed, "is everything alright?"
"Yeah," I replied. "Everything's great. Toby is already asleep. I was actually just wondering if I could move your clown statue to the garage or something. It's really starting to creep me out."
There was a pause. "Clown statue?" Mrs. Jones asked, sounding a bit confused.
"Yeah, the clown statue in the room with the huge TV. You know, the one sitting in the corner?"
Another pause. I heard her talking to someone else, probably her husband. Confused, I glanced back towards the doorway to the room. Wait...did I just....? I did a double take. No, it was just my imagination....
"Brook? Brook!" I could hear Mrs. Jones yelling on the phone. I pulled it back to my ear.
"Yes?" I replied, getting more freaked out by the second.
"Go get Toby and then get out of the house. Go to the neighbor's house and call the police."
"What? Why? What's going on?" My heart was racing.
"Just get out of there! Quickly!" She was starting to sound panicked.
".....Mrs. Jones?" I asked quietly. I had started to shake.
"Brook, we don't have a clown statue." It took a few seconds before the words really sunk in. Oh my God.
Turning on heel, I started to run to Toby's room, but stopped dead in my tracks. Standing in the doorway to the TV room and wearing a deranged smile was the clown. He was holding a bloody knife.

    Drip
    A short scary story
"See you soon, honey. We'll be back in a few hours." My mother lightly kissed my cheek before strolling out the door, my father trailing closely behind.
Before the door closed fully, he quickly stuck his head back inside and reminded me for perhaps the hundredth time, "Remember, lock all of the doors and windows. We don't want anyone getting in again."
"Yeah, I know, dad," I said in an annoyed voice. He was talking about the time someone broke into our house while we were away and stole a ton of my mom's jewelry, including my great-grandmother's golden locket. Ever since then, my dad had always pestered me about making sure everything was locked, even the windows.
The door clicked shut behind him as he walked out, and I breathed a sigh of relief. Finally. I was extremely greatful to have a night to myself. I turned on my heel and sprinted down the hall to the family room, jumping and landing on the couch right next to my australian shephard, Charlie. He lifted his head a little and looked at me, as if to say, Are you serious? I was sleeping! I laughed, burying my face in his soft brown fur. "How about some TV?" I asked him, grabbing the remote and turning to my favorite show. I cuddled up to Charlie and relaxed. No more parents to pester me for the next few hours!
After watching two episodes, I could already feel my eyelids growning heavy. I glanced over at Charlie, and saw that he was already sound asleep. Turning off the TV, I slowly rose and trudged to the front door to lock it. I then preceded to the front window, the back door, and so on, locking each one. However, when I reached one of the small windows in the basement, I found that it wouldn't budge. I eventually gave up. It's only one little window, I thought.
Going back upstairs, I walked into my bedroom and fell back onto my bed. I glanced down to find Charlie already laying on the carpet beneath me. Yawning, I reached over to turn off the light, and quickly fell asleep.
It felt like I had only been asleep for a few seconds when I woke up. A fimiliar sound filled my ears. Drip, drip, drip. I groaned knowing that the sink must be leaking again. I crawled out of bed and slipped into the kitchen, but when I reached the sink, it wasn't dripping. I shrugged, still half asleep, and went back to my room. But before I had a chance to turn off the light, the strangest feeling washed over me. Like I was being watched....I shuddered, before reaching my hand under my bed and feeling Charlie give my hand a reassuring lick. Good, that meant I was safe. Everything was fine. I turned off the light and went back to sleep.
Again, seeming like seconds later, I woke up to dripping. Drip, drip, drip. I jumped out of bed and stormed to the kitchen sink, again. Darn you, leaky sink! I thought, but noticed that it wasn't leaking. Fairly confused, I went to the drawer and pulled out a small towel, wrapping it around the sink nozzle. There. Now, if it started to leak again, I wouldn't have to hear it. I quickly walked to my room and sat on the edge of my bed. I was about to lay down when, suddenly, I got that feeling again. That I was being watched... I reached my hand under my bed and let Charlie lick it, assuring me that I was perfectly safe. I then reached up and turned out the light.
This time, when I woke up, I was absolutely perplexed. Drip, drip, drip. I slowly rose from my bed. I tied a towel around that sink, why am I still hearing dripping?! I peeked into the kitchen, and saw that the towel was still firmly in place. Suddenly, a thought occured to me. I slapped my hand onto my forehead. I am so stupid, it was probably the bathroom sink the whole time. Weird, though. That sink had never leaked before.
Turning around, I walked back down the hall, passing my bedroom on the way. I stopped midstride, the hair rising on the back of my neck. There it was again. That feeling. Wanting to get back to Charlie as fast as possible, I ran to the bathroom and threw open the door.....
There are no words to explain the absolute horror I felt as my eyes focused on my now dead dog. Hanging from the ceiling from a rope and nail, blood was covering every inch of his body. Below him, a puddle had formed from the dripping blood. And then it hit me: the dripping had been coming from my dog the whole time...but then what had been licking my hand?
As I stood there, petrified, I could see headlights coming into the driveway from the window. My parents. Still, I couldn't move. My eyes slowly moved their gaze to my bedroom door.....and I couldn't help it. Slowly, I crept up the hallway to my door and gently pushed it open.
The sight I saw before me still haunts me to this day. Written in big, red letters were these words:
    Humans can lick, too.
