some people think that since someone hurt you,
you need to hurt them back to show them how it feels.
That just makes you exactly like them.
You should never want to hurt someone,
    even if they hurt you.

    The Shane Game
    Chapter 50
Shane ran his fingers through his hair to try to whisk as much beer out as he could. No one really knew what to do so Paige just cut the cake and gave it to everyone. Savannah discreetly made her way through the crowd, upstairs, and outside.
She sat on the front steps in the cool October air, hot tears burning her eyes. If Ava hadn’t done such a good job on her makeup she wouldn’t have tried so hard not to cry.
Shane looked around for Savannah and someone told him they saw her go outside. ‘Sh..t,’ Shane thought. ‘She left.’
He ran up from the basement, out the door and down the front steps. “Savannah!” he called as loud as he could. He hit someone and before he knew it he was tumbling down them, until he ended up on the ground. He heard a sniffle and then a giggle and looked up to see Savannah laughing at him.
“Savannah, I am so sorry,” he got up and sat next to her. She scooted away and when he moved closer to her and stood up and started walking. “Savannah, stop! Please!” He ran in front of her so that she couldn’t walk away.
“Ten dollars, Shane?? That’s why you were doing this? You know, you really had me going for a second and I truly believed you liked me. And you got me to like you too. I should’ve known that you know how to play The Shane Game better than I do so congratulations, you’re the winner,” tears built up in her eyes. “I guess ten dollars is your prize.”
“Blake is drunk as hell in there! The entire football team knows that I like you, Savannah. He told me if I hooked up with you tonight he’d give me ten dollars, but he was kidding! He didn’t know what he was doing when he gave me the money. I would’ve tried to kiss you anyway, because I truly like you, Savannah.”
“How do you expect me to believe you after everything you’ve done?” she let a tear fall.
“I risked my popularity for you, I lost some friends for you, I didn’t have s..x with some of the hottest girls in our school for you, I told you about the girls I accidentally hook up with for you, and all I’m asking for is a chance,” Shane said.
Savannah looked up at him and saw the sincerity in his eyes. She wanted to kiss him so bad but she knew she couldn’t do that without falling in love with him all over again. The game was over, but neither of them had won.
“Savannah, will you be my girlfriend?” Shane asked.
    The End
Note: I'm honestly so sad that this is the end :( I'm sorry if everyone hates me that I ended it here and you don't know Savannah's response but I think that's for you to decide. Do you think she should forgive him or should she forget him? I have no clue if there will be a threequel for this or not. Truly, I want to write another one because I've had so much fun for the past two years writing this for all of you guys but at the same time it might be good to let go and start fresh. I do have some ideas of what I could do for the next story if I make one, but I'm not sure how it will turn out. Thanks again to all of you who read this and stuck by me when I didn't want to continue writing and for those who really helped me through the hard times I was having. Please comment and tell me what you think of this chapter and what you think I should do in the future. Suggestions would really be appreciated!!! As you can tell I suck at endings so I don't really know how to end my thank you note hahaa but I guess I just want to say I appreciate you all and if you read this whole paragraph I appreciate you even more. I never imagined some stupid story I wrote about the guy I had a crush on at the time would be really liked and I guess that's just a good feeling to know you guys liked it. You're truly the best. I love youuuu(: -Kylie

    The Shane Game
    Chapter 25
“Shane, get up! It’s 2:30!” Shane’s mom yelled at him, coming in his room and turning on the lights.
“Noooo,” he pulled the covers over himself. His phone chimed for about the twelfth time in the last hour.
“Who keeps texting you?” Mrs. Palmer asked, grabbing Shane’s iPhone off his nightstand.
“No!” Shane immediately shot up and took his phone back. The sound wasn’t him receiving texts, it was notifications from Facebook of what he could only imagine ended up online.
“Clean up this room, it’s a mess,” Mrs. Palmer said and then left.
Shane checked through his phone to see he was tagged in a picture with a bunch of likes and comments. “Get it Shane!” “That’s my boy!” What were they talking about? The picture wouldn’t load so he had to go on his computer to see it.
“No,” he whispered to himself when he finally saw it. He thought it was just a dream that he got with Willow and Autumn, he didn’t know it actually happened. What would he say to Savannah? He couldn’t deny it- it was on the internet! He looked through more pictures and saw himself kissing Casey Reynolds on the cheek, grinding with Paige and Tiff, giving Kayla Beck a piggy back ride, playing beer pong with a bunch of people, taking a hit of everyone’s joint, and so much more that he barely remembered.
He logged off and went on to Twitter to check Savannah’s latest tweets. There were three recent ones from today. The first was just a simple cry face emoticon. Was that about finding the picture of Shane? The second really shocked him- “I love my best friend Ava <3” Was Ava the one who showed Sav the picture?? Maybe it was just a typo and she didn’t mean to say Ava. But the third confirmed Shane’s fears. It was a picture of Savannah smiling while Ava kissed her on the cheek.
“Sh.tttt!!!” Shane yelled at no one when he accidentally retweeted the picture. He quickly deleted it, but he knew Savannah would get an e-mail about it. About ten seconds later he refreshed his news feed to see two identical tweets from Savannah and Ava.
They were each only two words long, but it made him feel so sh.tty.
He re-read the tweets a million times, hoping it would make them disappear-
    “Hi Shane.”
Note: "We're all part of the same sick little games and I need to get away."
Teaser: Ava and Savannah smirked at each other, pleased with the confusion that was going on amongst the other kids.

    The Shane Game
    Chapter 37
Savannah didn’t even know what she wanted. She had six beers and smoked a little of Ava’s joint at this point. Someone changed the song that was on and Ava went over to dance. Savannah stood next to Blake and Aaron, thinking of what she could make them do.
“I think I know what she wants,” Aaron looked at Blake and Shane. Shane knew exactly what he meant and couldn’t believe what he was going to do.
Aaron took Savannah by the hand, sat down on the recliner where Shane had hooked up with Willow and Autumn, and pulled Savannah to sit on his lap.
The next thing Savannah knew, Aaron’s lips were on hers. People stopped, shocked by what was going on. Ava turned to see her best friend making out with the guy who used her last year. Savannah knew this too and knew how much he hurt her. Ava couldn’t stand to look at it and accidentally caught Shane’s eyes, and she could tell he was hurting just as much as she was.
So it was okay for Aaron to hook up with Savannah, but not Shane. People cheered and laughed and took pictures when it was Aaron, but if Shane were to do it people would freak out. Unbelievable.
The party finally ended but Shane was done a long time ago. It became very obvious to him that he needed to prove himself to Savannah.
Ava and Savannah got a ride back to Ava’s house from Aaron, because there was no way Savannah could go home that way. Savannah was passed out in the back seat, and Ava looked out the window from the passenger seat, unable to look at Aaron, even though it was a year ago.
Aaron carried Savannah into Ava’s house because Ava couldn’t do it herself. Ava woke up the next morning way before Savannah did, practicing what she would say to her.
    “Ava?” Savannah finally woke up.
“I can’t believe you, Savannah,” Ava spit.
Note: :( I don't like when Ava and Savannah fight, I like them better as best friends
Teaser: "You just need me to see if Shane likes you or not. After last night, I wouldn't be surprised if he hated you."

    Chapter 43
“I can’t believe you actually admitted to everyone that you like Savannah,” Ava said.
“I had to. She was never going to believe I truly like her if I didn’t do that. And I ended up losing a lot of friends because of it because I lied to them that I hate her,” he said as he put a blanket over himself and Ava.
Ava cuddled up next to him. “Was it worth it?”
    “I hope so,” Shane said.
“Well, I think it was really brave of you,” she said.
“So you and Savannah aren’t friends anymore?” Shane asked.
“I’m just so angry at her,” Ava didn’t answer the question. “I told her about Blake and Aaron and she knows how much it upsets me. And I know she was really drunk but she still got with him. I let her out of my sight for one second and I turn around to see that. I was honestly about to break down and cry right there. I can’t believe she would do that.”
“I can’t believe that either,” Shane said. “Did she apologize?”
“Yeah but words don’t mean sh..t,” Ava said. “She told me she loved me though, so I accepted her apology.”
“Are you still after that, babe?” Shane asked. He couldn’t believe he just called her that. “Ave.” He tried to correct himself.
“That’s all I’ve ever wanted,” Ava said.
“I don’t think she loves you loves you….just loves you like a friend or sister.”
“I know. But that’s enough,” Ava said.
“How many guys have you been with since we broke up?” Shane asked. He knew when he broke up with Ava it would send her down a long path of hate and confusion, but he had to. Now he felt awful about it.
“Within a month after you broke up with me, six,” Ava answered truthfully. “From then up to now, eleven.” She looked away embarrassed, knowing that Shane wouldn’t approve.
“Seventeen guys?” Shane asked shocked. “Ava, you’re better than that.”
“No!” Ava said. “Don’t say that! Everyone says I am, but the truth is, I’m not! If I was, a guy would’ve wanted to be in a relationship with me and not just use me. I’m a wh..re.”
“Stop, you’re not,” Shane said. “You’ve made mistakes, but you’re not a bad person. But Ava, we’ve always been honest with each other. How many of those guys did you have s..x with?”
“You tell me first how many of the girls you’ve hooked up with that you had s..x with,” Ava said. If her number was way higher than Shane’s then she would lie.
    “Five,” Shane said.
“Seven,” Ava said. Ava could see the shock all over Shane’s face but tried to defend herself, saying, “One of which was you! So don’t act all surprised.”
“You just want to be loved,” Shane said, kind of sad.
“So do you,” Ava said. “That’s why you’re with a new girl every week.”
“I guess you’re right,” Shane said.
“Savannah has it so easy, and she doesn’t even realize it. She makes me feel like a wh..re for getting with so many guys, and she made you lose a bunch of your friends. She screwed both of us. I just want to get back at her somehow,” Ava repeated what Savannah said.
“Well, what were you thinking?” Shane asked. Ava just stared right at him with her mesmerizing eyes and all the memories and feelings came flooding back to Shane.
He stood up and led her to the bed, “You can’t say anything.”

    The Shane Game
    Chapter 20
Ava sat on her bed, composing a new text to Savannah. Shane ended up not giving her Savannah’s number, but it’s not like she needed it anyway. Her plan worked out perfectly. Yeah, he basically called her an attention seeker, but now he knows what would happen if his friends were to find out about his little secret, which would hopefully convince him to give up on Savannah. And if he didn’t, he also knew how easily Ava could interfere.
Ava: Hey girl, it’s Ava. What days work for you? I was thinking Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at my house, 509 Oak Street. Is that okay?
Savannah: Yeah, that sounds good. Starting tomorrow?
Ava: Yup! Sounds good! Come around 5, Bring some money, we’ll order Chinese! :)
Ava hoped that that didn’t sound too desperate, like she wanted her to eat over and have dinner with her. But secretly, she did. She’d rather eat with Savannah than alone by herself, again.
    Savannah: Okaaay
Savannah was so confused as to why Ava was offering to have dinner with her. It’s not like they were friends…at all.
The next day at school was weird. Ava said hi to her in the halls and complimented her. Why was she being so nice? What did she have planned?
Just like Savannah promised, she showed up to her house that night around 5. She rang the bell and was greeted by Ava who warmly welcomed her in. Savannah stepped into the house cautiously, unaware of what Ava had planned.
“Come on up to my room,” Ava smiled, leading the way. Savannah followed and was surprised by how neat her room was. She was expecting it to be messy, just like all of Ava’s hook ups.
Ava took a seat on her bed and patted the space next to her for Savannah to take a seat too. She did and Ava opened up a textbook and her binder.
“So I was thinking we could order the food now, and study until it gets here which will be about 30-45 minutes. Sound good?”
    “Um, yeah,” Savannah said.
“Great. And again, thanks a bunch for doing this. So we’re learning something about expansion and imperialism with countries but I’m so confused,” she held up a worksheet. “What is imperialism?” Ava didn’t want to jump right into her plan. She had to give it some time, or else Savannah would be suspicious.
Savannah didn’t catch that drift, and she wanted to know exactly what was going on. “Ava, why did you ask for me to tutor you?”
    “What?” Ava asked.
“Is this to boast about getting Shane to cheat on me with you? I don’t care-”
“No! That’s not it at all! Why would you think that?”
“Why else would you need me to tutor you? You could have picked anyone else.”
“Fine, there is a specific reason I picked you,” Ava said, looking for how she could explain it. “So you know…Shane likes you.”
“Oh my God, is this to keep Shane away from me again?? Ava, he’s not either of ours anymore, you don’t have to worry and try to steal him back.”
“No, that’s not what I want. I know you like him too.”
"What? How do you know that?” Savannah hadn’t told anyone about that.
“Savannah, do you have any idea how many times I’ve played the Shane Game? He could get anyone to fall in love with him, no matter how bad he’s treated you. I can see what’s happening, and I have a feeling he’s doing to you what he did to me. He’s saying he really likes you and would do anything to have you back, yet when he’s with his dumb friends he pretends he doesn’t know you. Don’t make the same mistake I did and fall for it. I’m trying to save you before it’s too late,” she admitted.
Note: remeber, two new chapters a day! chapter 21 will have to be clicked to be seen most likely but its on my page!
Teaser: "Ava, stop trying to get involved!" Savannah yelled at her.

    The Shane Game
    Chapter 41
Once Savannah left that night, Mrs. Palmer started asking Shane a million questions about her. He answered them truthfully, and told her that he missed Savannah and still liked her.
Savannah took a picture with Shane on his computer and uploaded it to Facebook from his name. A bunch of texts immediately followed from his friends asking about it, and Shane told them the truth. If Aaron could hook up with her and get away with it then Shane could tell them he liked her, right?
    Wrong.
They didn’t understand how he could be so mean to her and now like her. They made fun of him a lot, and not in a friendly way. Shane was nervous to go to school today, unaware of how many people knew that he liked her.
He walked into the school and to his surprise, Nick Bassett came up and talked to him. “Sorry for what I said last night, I was just really shocked. It’s just weird that you like her after everything you’ve said about her,” he said. “How long have you liked her for?”
“I don’t know if I ever stopped,” Shane said. Nick widened his eyes, laughed, and walked away.
So many people asked Savannah if she knew Shane liked her, and she said of course she did. No one understood if this was a joke or not, and in a way, Shane wished it was. He’d never had people make fun of him before and talk about him in a bad way. He’d always been the person who was doing the bullying, and now he wished he never did.
Nothing had changed the next few days. He asked Ava if she wanted to come over and hang out after the game that Friday, because he noticed she seemed kind of upset too, and no one had seen her and Savannah together. Only Shane understood why though.
The game was awful because barely anyone talked to Shane. They kept making comments about Shane liking Savannah and how Aaron got with her, and Shane had enough.
“Did you invite Savannah to the game, Shane?” Nick laughed.
“No,” Shane filled up a cup of water from the cooler.
“But you love her, I don’t understand,” he laughed some more.
    “Stop,” Shane said.
“Stop,” Nick mimicked him. “Where’s Savannah to defend you, Shane?”
“Bro, shut the f..ck up! You don’t even know her! None of you do! She’s not as bad as you think and maybe if you guys would stop being such a..sholes and get to know her, you wouldn’t make fun of me for liking her. Stop talking sh..t about her, stop making fun of me for it, stop being a d.ck!” Shane yelled at them.
“Palmer, calm down, we’re just joking,” Eli said. “You’re the one who always made fun of her. None of us had a problem with her. We all thought she was hot and that’s when you started being a d.ck to her.”
“Because I still liked her. I didn’t want you guys to have her,” Shane said under his breath.
“You should have told us that then,” Nick said. “We would’ve understood.”
“Sorry I got with your girl, bro,” Aaron said. “If I knew, I wouldn’t have.”
“It’s fine,” Shane lied. “But you guys ignored me all week because you found out I like her. You don’t understand. This is why I didn’t tell you.”
“Because you lied to us. You said you hated her but you didn’t. That’s not cool,” Aaron said. “If you told us from the beginning that you liked her we would’ve backed off.” Shane wondered if that was true though, because they ripped on him so much just for breaking up with someone like Savannah.
“So basically, you guys never would have cared if I told you I liked her?” Shane asked.
    “Not at all,” Nick said
Note: so basically shane was mean for nothing
Teaser: "I've really missed you, Ava," Shane said.

    The Shane Game
    Chapter 49
Blake came in about ten minutes later to tell them that people were giving toasts to Ava for her birthday. They walked out and saw Ava sitting on a barstool next to an ice cream cake with pink frosting that spelled out, “Happy Birthday Ava.”
“So I was pretty wasted at this point, and that’s when Ava took my phone so I couldn’t drunk text my ex-boyfriend, answered the phone call from my mom pretending to be me so I wouldn’t get in trouble, and held my hair as I threw up. That’s when she gained my respect and I’m happy to have her as my friend,” Paige laughed. “To Ava.”
“To Ava,” everyone repeated and took a sip of whatever they were drinking.
    “Who’s next?” Paige asked.
Some more cheerleaders gave toasts saying sweet things or funny stories about Ava, and for a change, Ava didn’t feel like the hated, worthless wh..re that she usually felt like. It was Savannah’s turn to toast. She stood up on the chair and Ava smiled, imagining what Savannah would say.
“Well I want to start off by thanking Ava for picking out this outfit for me,” Savannah said.
“You look hot!” Aaron raised his beer and everyone laughed.
“Oh gosh, I don’t even know where to start. I guess it all started last year when I punched Ava in the face,” she said and then realized how awful that sounded. Everyone died laughing, even Ava, and Savannah kept going. “I was really jealous of her because she was absolutely gorgeous and Shane liked her and not me.” People kept laughing and Savannah was on a roll. “If you asked me a year ago about Ava Rivers, I’d tell you I hated her. I can’t even believe that I now call her my best friend. We’re both sarcastic a..sholes, obnoxious, and not well liked but it’s okay! I think together we kind of proved everyone wrong and I love that about Ava. She’s helped me so much and she’s always there to listen to me and I always have fun with her. She helped me in a certain game that we were playing, but more importantly beer pong two weeks ago against Blake and Aaron.” Everyone turned to the guys, laughing that Savannah made fun of them. “Ava, I love you. Happy birthday!” Everyone was laughing by the end of Savannah’s speech, even clapping for her.
Savannah was about to step down when Blake handed ten bucks to Shane and yelled, “Here’s the ten dollars I promised you for getting with Savannah.” Other people heard it and laughed.
Ten dollars?? That’s why Shane was pretending to like her?? Savannah was fuming, eyebrow raised and jaw clenched. Everyone could see she was angry, and Shane didn’t know what to do.
Savannah poured the rest of her drink on Shane and stepped down.
Note: I'm going to be posting the last chapter this afternoon before I go out!

    The Shane Game
    Chapter 35
Shane had no idea what to say, so he didn’t say anything at all. He walked away, quickly searching for Aaron or Blake to kick Savannah out of the party, because he knew one of two things would happen. One, he’d get super drunk/high and not be able to resist but hooking up with Savannah, or two, it would be a repeat of last time, and Savannah would witness it. Or even worse, both would happen.
He had to get her out before it was too late. He found Blake and Aaron setting up for a game of pong against Paige and Dani. “Yo, who invited Savannah Grant?” Shane asked.
“She came with Ava,” Dani said.
“Why?” Shane asked. “Someone get her out of here.”
“Calm down,” Dani laughed. “She’s not bothering anyone.”
“She doesn’t belong here, everyone hates her,” Shane said.
“Palmer, who cares? Just ignore her, that’s what everyone else will be doing,” Blake said.
Shane was shocked that they didn’t care as much as he did. He looked for Nick Bassett, who would surely have something to say about it, but Shane watched as he and Alissa Carson took it to the back room. Tyler and Eli were talking to some girls but Shane interrupted anyway.
“Can you guys tell Savannah Grant to go home?”
    “She’s here??” Eli asked shocked.
“Yeah!” Shane said. “Can one of you tell her to leave?”
“Why can’t you do it?” Tyler asked.
“I don’t want to look like a d.ck,” Shane said.
“We don’t either!” Tyler and Eli said at the same time.
“You guys suck,” Shane stole Eli’s joint and walked away.
Shane looked over at the game of pong going on that a lot of people were watching. Blake and Aaron only had one cup left to win the game, Paige and Dani had two. It was Paige and Dani’s turn. Paige missed when it was her turn, but Dani got it in one of the cups. It was one left for both of them, and Blake decided to show off and throw it in backwards. He missed, and so did Aaron after that. Paige got it in the first try and they won the game.
    “You guys suck!” Paige laughed.
“Paige, you got lucky, we beat you every single time!” Blake said.
“Never!” Paige said back. “You guys barely ever win!” That was a lie, but at this point Paige barely even knew what she was talking about.
“We could beat anyone in here!” Aaron said.
“What about me?” Savannah stumbled over.
Note: oh god this can't be good

    The Shane Game
    Chapter 45
Shane heard Ava start crying and realized the jerk he’d just been.
“I’m sorry,” he said. “I just…I’m…oh my God! You always do this Ava!”
“What?” Ava yelled. “You’re the one who started this! You led me to your bed, you took my clothes off, you were a part of this!”
“You can’t blame this all on me! You’re the one who was going to have s..x with me!” Shane said.
“We’re both laying naked in your bed, what did you think I thought we were going to do?”
Shane didn’t say anything, realizing he was wrong. “I’ll tell my mom to drive you home now. Just put your clothes back on.” He put his pants and shirt back on and waited for Ava. She looked in the mirror, fixed her hair, wiped a few fake tears and went out with Shane. They barely spoke the entire car ride. Ava’s phone broke the silence with a text from Savannah.
    Savannah: Did you do it??
Ava: Mission accomplished, got with him ;)
Savannah: What did you guys do?
Ava: We took it one step at a time and did everything but he kicked me out when he realized I wanted s..x
Savannah didn’t know how to respond to that. She didn’t think they’d get that far at all. Tears blurred her vision and she couldn’t see the screen. That’s when she realized that she was jealous of other girls that Shane hooked up with. Yeah, she was the one who told Ava to hook up with him, but she just thought making out, maybe a little farther. She blinked hard and texted back that she was proud of her. She knew Ava wasn’t trying to hurt her or anything.
Savannah went over Ava’s house the next day to help her study for a test she had that Monday, but really she wanted more details about last night, as much as it hurt her. Ava gave her the full story in detail- everything they said, everything they did. Savannah pretended she didn’t care, but when she didn’t say anything or laugh, Ava realized she was hurt.
“It didn’t mean anything though, Sav,” she said. “I tricked him into thinking he was mad at you so that he would do it. But he saw you texted me, realized we were still friends, freaked and then kicked me out.”
“Would he have done it if I hadn’t texted you?” Savannah asked nervously.
"I don’t know, and that’s what scares me. Would he have told you about it because he was sorry or told you he was sorry but is still going to do it again?”
Savannah looked down and Ava watched as a tear rolled down her cheek. She gave her a hug and apologized. “I bet he’ll tell you today though. He seemed really upset about it.”
Savannah waited by her phone all day for a text or call from Shane.
    Nothing.
Note: remember what happened last time after Shane hooked up with Ava when he was with Savannah? how he never texted her after it? :/
Teaser: She acted so nice last month when Shane needed help getting Savannah back but ratted Shane out for having c..ndoms in his room.

    The Shane Game
    Chapter 47
Savannah went an entire week ignoring Shane, despite his attempts to acknowledge her. Now that his secret was out, he didn’t have to pretend like he hated her. But she still ignored him. No notes in English, no secretive looks in math, no smiles in science- nothing.
He saw her and Ava together and Shane wondered if Ava had told her. He assumed not, because if his best friend had done that, he would not be acting all buddy buddy with them.
There was another game that Friday night, and Paige was throwing a party for Ava’s birthday which was also that day. Shane knew that Savannah was invited to this party. He had all week to tell Savannah what happened, and he hadn’t. And he knew that Savannah wouldn’t wait around forever. This was his last chance.
They’d won their fifth straight game in a row, but not by much. If Shane hadn’t tackled the quarterback, the other team would’ve scored and won. Everyone congratulated Shane and told him they’d go hard tonight.
Blake gave him a ride to the party and told him he’d try to get him with Savannah tonight. Shane wondered why Blake was going to Ava’s birthday party, considering what he did to her last year, but he knows Blake doesn’t miss a good party.
Shane immediately spotted Savannah when he walked in. She was wearing a sparkly gold baby tee and a black, high-waisted skirt. Gold bracelets lined her thin wrist, and Shane could only imagine what she was hiding under there.
Blake patted Shane’s back and c..cked his head towards Savannah. “If you get it, I’ll give you ten dollars,” he joked and pushed him toward her.
Savannah was pouring herself another shot when Shane came out of nowhere. She spilled it on herself, “Oh my God.”
“I’m so sorry,” Shane said. Blake laughed from the side but Shane ignored him. “I’ll get you another.”
    “It’s fine,” she spat.
“You look really pretty,” he tried.
“Thanks,” she said, barely making eye contact. She knew if she did she might cry, thinking about what he did with Ava.
“Paige is having people make toasts to Ava later. Are you gonna make one?” he tried to make conversation.
“She’s my best friend, of course,” Savannah said, as if it were obvious.
“Palmer, there’s another bottle in that back room. Why don’t you treat Savannah to it since you wasted her other one,” Blake said, pointing to the laundry room.
Shane realized what Blake was doing and took Savannah there so they could be alone. Blake shut the door behind them and stood in front of it so Savannah couldn’t get out.
“What’s going on, there’s no bottle in here?” Savannah said. “Let me out!”
“Savannah I need to tell you something,” he said.
“You like me, I get it Shane! You’ve told me!”
“I hooked up with Ava!” he admitted.
Note: how many times can Shane mess up like honestly
Teaser: "You know?" he asked. "Well duh," she laughed. "I came up with this plan."

    The Shane Game
    Chapter 39
Shane couldn’t believe that Savannah had actually agreed to hanging out with him tonight. Nick and Derek had asked Shane to hang out tonight but he told them he was sick. He couldn’t risk saying he was hanging out with Savannah, especially after he saw all the sh..t Aaron Mason got this morning at football practice for hooking up with her last night. He couldn’t even lie and say that Savannah was all over him, because he was sober and Savannah was wasted. He just laughed it off saying he probably made her dreams come true.
The doorbell rang and Shane ran downstairs to answer it, practically knocking over his sister.
    “Hey,” Shane answered the door.
“Hey,” Savannah took a step in, cautiously.
“You look really pretty,” Shane said. Savannah just wanted to cry, thinking about how if he said it a year ago, it would’ve made her so happy, and how now it basically means nothing.
Mrs. Palmer heard a girl say, “Thanks” and looked out from the kitchen. “Savannah?” she could barely believe it. “Oh my gosh, it is so good to see you!” She ran over and gave her a hug. This is exactly why Shane didn’t tell her. “I’ve missed you, how have you been?”
“Good,” Savannah smiled. “How have you been?”
“Great!” she smiled. “Did you dye your hair lighter? It looks great! Do you still swim?” She bombarded Savannah with a bunch of questions but it was good to catch up. Savannah saw Corinne and complimented her shirt which they’d bought last year together.
“Alright, we gotta go,” Shane started to lead Savannah up to his room, not wanting to waste any more time with his family.
“It’s great to see you Savannah, don’t be a stranger!” Mrs. Palmer said.
“I won’t!” Savannah said, unsure if she could keep that promise though.
Savannah walked into Shane’s room and was hit by a thousand memories. She had her first kiss in this room and had spent practically every day here last year. Shane had made sure to clean up all the c.ndom packets and that there were no girl clothes in sight.
They sat down on the couch and Savannah was quiet, waiting for Shane to say something, but Shane completely froze, unsure of what to say. Savannah and Ava had practiced what to say if something like this were to happen.
“Why did you invite me here?” Savannah asked.
Shane looked at her disappointed face, like she thought this was all a joke. He noticed the navy blue shirt she was wearing, and he knew it was Ava’s- he’d bought it for her.
“Because I like you and I wanted to spend time with you,” Shane said.
“You like me?” Savannah asked like she was so happy, hoping her voice sounded as sincere as it did when she practiced with Ava.
    “So much,” Shane admitted.
“I really like you too,” Savannah recited her lines.
“So then why did you do that last night with Aaron? That’s not like you, Sav.”
“No, you’re right, it’s not. But you hooked up with Autumn and Willow, and that is like you,” she spit.
“I was so drunk and I’ve never been that high before. I just wanted some action at the time and looking back on it now, I completely regret it,” Shane said. “I’m sorry.”
“It was a week after you told me how much you wanted me back! Were you even going to tell me about this?” Savannah asked annoyed.
“Yes! That’s why I invited you over here,” Shane defended himself.
“You’re truly sorry?” Savannah asked, moving a little closer to him.
    “Yes,” he said.
    “Prove it,” she said.
    He kissed her.
Note: but good things can only last so long
Teaser: "Savannah do you know what would happen to me if I let everyone know I liked you? I'd be ridiculed forever," he said, hoping she'd appreciate his honesty.

    The Shane Game
    Chapter 24
“I’ve already thought of the perfect plan,” Ava said.
    “What is it?”
“Shane has so many friends who will do anything for him. Everyone hates us and there’s a strength in numbers that Shane has that we lack. Shane can go ask one of his dumb friends to find out why we’re always together, but we’ll just say it’s because you’re my tutor. Shane will know something’s up, but no one else will. And how does Shane explain to his friends who think he’s so superior and confident that he’s afraid of his ex’s? Afraid of his ex’s that everyone hates! Someone will always have Shane’s back and the thing is, we don’t. That’s why we need to be here for each other, taking Shane down.”
“And how exactly are we taking him down?”
“Shane thinks that you’re going to talk to him whenever he wants you to, yet he ignores some of your texts. Am I right?” Ava asked. Savannah nodded. “So give in. Make him think he’s right. Play him just as much as he’s playing you. Only the difference is, you’re going to win the Shane Game, Sav. Here’s how we’re going to do it. Shane already knows that I know he likes you. He freaked out when I brought it up to him the other day. But what he doesn’t know is that we’re in this together. We’re going to freak everyone out, and start hanging out together, maybe even hopefully, truly be friends. No one will know what’s going on. Especially Shane. Soon he’ll know we’re in this together, but he won’t know what to expect.”
“So basically, the two most hated girls in school become best friends, to become the most powerful players in the Shane Game?”
“Exactly!” Ava said, so happy that Savannah understood the first part of her plan. “But that’s only step one. I still need help on the rest of the plan.”
    “What were you thinking?”
“Shane can tell you as many times as he wants that he likes you, but until he proves it, he’s not getting anywhere. He thinks you’re going to stick around so he can lead you on a leash, tying you up to wait there for him until he gets back from hooking up with other girls. Do you really think he’s going to tell you about last night? No. Give him the cold shoulder and act really annoyed. He won’t know why, and he’ll need some help figuring it out. And who’s the middle man here who’s friends with both of you? Me. I’ll basically tell him that you’re really upset about it, and that’s when he’s going to apologize,” Ava said.
“But the thing is, he’s still going to be getting with other girls. I’m not stupid, I know he’s going to. After he basically begs for my forgiveness and promises not to get with other girls, we’re going to have to set up a situation where he’s bound to get with another girl. And we’ll see if he tells me or not if he got with the girl we set up as bait,” Savannah said.
“Oh my God, that’s perfect! We’ll get him alone with this girl and make sure she instigates it. Whether he rejects her or goes along with it, let’s see if he tells you about it,” Ava said.
“Because that will prove if he really likes me or not and means what he’s been saying. But what girl can we get to be the bait?”
“I mean, he was all over a bunch of girls last night. I’m not just talking about hooking up with Willow and Autumn. You know how when you’re high how it releases a lot of dopamine which is the love endorphin? It makes people really hor.ny if they smoke enough of it,” Ava said.
“How do you know that?” Savannah asked, shocked that Ava knew of psychological brain patterns.
    “I’m not dumb!” Ava laughed.
“I know,” Savannah smiled. “But what was he doing?”
“He only went after the pretty girls who of course didn’t care but he was grinding with them, kissing them on the cheek, he even grabbed my bu.tt at one point which is weird-”
    “What??”
“Don’t worry, I swear I didn’t do anything with him. I pulled away,” Ava defended herself.
“No, Ava this is perfect. Even if he was high, he still tried to do something with you. You just said he only went after the pretty girls, and let’s be honest, what guy doesn’t want to get with you? It would be another reason for Shane to brag and feel cool- you have to get with him!”
“You want me to be the bait?”
    “Yes!”
Note: "We're all part of the same sick little games and I need to get away."
Teaser: The sound wasn't him recieving texts, it was notification's from Facebook of what he could only imagine ended up online.

    The Shane Game
    Chapter 33
“What did he say??” Savannah opened the door for Ava and let her into her house. Ava had walked straight from Shane’s house to Savannah’s, eager to tell her the new information that she’d learned.
“He thinks I’m on his side and that I’m going to help him get you!” Ava said.
“Why would you tell him that??”
“Because, Sav,” Ava said, as if it were obvious. “I could spend more time with him, get him to trust me, and then boom. Hook up with him.”
“This is perfect,” Savannah smiled. “He’s never going to even see it coming.”
“I know,” Ava smiled. “And I don’t know if you’re going to find this creepy or sweet but guess what?”
    “What?”
“I was looking at the pictures on Shane’s living room and kitchen walls and there was this one picture-”
    “The teletubby one?” Savannah laughed.
“No! It was a new one….you were in it,” Ava said.
    “What?”
“It was Shane holding you in your Cinderella dress on Halloween as he was in his suit. You’re laughing and holding onto him and he’s looking straight into your eyes and you could just tell, he really liked you,” Ava said. She felt awful knowing that not even one month later, she ruined that.
“Why is it still hanging up?” Savannah asked. She remembered when Mrs. Palmer took that picture and said it was her favorite one of them. Savannah never really thought of it, but she would’ve assumed that Shane made his mom take it down.
“I have no idea!” Ava said. “I’ll try to find out.”
“Do you think he still likes me? Like, as much as he says he does?”
“Honestly, I have no idea. The way he talks about you and the things he says make it seem like he truly does, but you and I know the best not to trust Shane. And as much as this is going to hurt you, I need to tell you. He-”
“Had s/x with Lexi,” Savannah said sadly. “I know.”
    “How?”
“I heard so many people talking about it. Even Lex herself with Paige and Tiff.”
    “Why didn’t you text me?”
“I don’t know,” Savannah said. “What were you gonna do? Yell at him for it?”
“I’m sorry,” Ava said. “But if it makes you feel better, I think Shane regrets it. He talked about it a little with me and he didn’t want you to know because he knew it would upset you.”
“Did he find out why I’m mad?”
“Yeah,” Ava said. “I made it perfectly clear for him.” Savannah laughed, only being able to imagine what Ava had done.
“And he still hasn’t even apologized. Maybe he’d rather be with Lex,” Savannah said. “Or Willow. Or Autumn. Or any other girl but me.”
“Believe me Sav, Shane is going to get with as many girls as he can. But there’s one thing that he can’t resist, and that’s a chase. And if there’s one thing he can’t stand, it’s losing. Don’t give up now.”
    “Why?”
    “Because you’re winning.”
Note: "Never impressed by me acing your tests."
Teaser: "Just find a girl tonight, hook up with her, and then tomorrow move on to the next," Shane said.

    The Shane Game
    Chapter 40
He was surprised when Savannah didn’t immediately pull up. A million memories raced through his mind and he wanted it all back.
But right on cue, Savannah pulled up. “What’s wrong?” Shane asked, going in for more.
“So when were you going to tell me about Lex?” she c.cked her eyebrow and Shane knew he was in trouble.
“To be honest, I wasn’t,” he said. That’s not what Savannah was expected. She and Ava practiced it as if he was going to tell her soon.
“I knew it would hurt you and I didn’t want you to look down on me because of it. She asked me to do it again today though and I rejected her,” he said truthfully.
    “Oh,” Savannah said. “Well...thanks.”
Shane kissed her again but she pulled up. “Shane, really. Why are you trying to make me think you like me? I already told you I wouldn’t tell your secret to anyone, and I haven’t. I don’t plan on it either.”
“I know,” Shane said. “It’s just something about you that makes me want you.” Savannah rolled her eyes at his cheesy response.
“Obviously not enough to prove it to your friends,” she said.
“Savannah, do you know what would happen to me if I let everyone know I liked you? I’d be ridiculed forever,” he said, hoping she’d appreciate his honestly.
But she didn’t. “So instead you let them make fun of me? You’re embarrassed by me, Shane. You don’t like me!”
“How can I prove to you that I truly do??” the desperation in his voice was apparent.
“Two things,” Savannah tauntingly smirked. “One, tell all of your friends we hang together. And when they ask why, tell them the truth. Two, stop hooking up with so many girls. And if you’re ‘so drunk and high’ and accidentally do, tell me.”
    “Done,” Shane agreed.
Note: do you think he'll do it?
Teaser: If Aaron could hook up with her and get away with it then Shane could tell them he liked her, right? Wrong.
