In 1st grade two kids in my grade had an argument about who was more adopted.
At first I thought it was really dumb. But then I listened.
One girl said that she was separated from her twin sister at birth and they were adopted by different families. Luckily, the two families lived in the same town, so they got to see each other a few times a week. But they ended up becoming completely different. She was raised being taught to be whoever she wanted to be and ended up being one of the most tom-boy girls at out school. She also grew up believing that she was a witch with magic powers that she'd discover when she grew up. Then her twin sister grew up being forced to be perfect. She was only given certain amounts of food each day and was trained by her parents to be model and cheerleader material. She ended up being a very religious Christian. Now the girl and her twin sister think that the other person is crazy for the person that they are, and now blood is the only thing that keeps them in any way similar.
The guy that was arguing said that when he was born, his mom died. His dad got remarried when he was 4. When he was 5 his dad died. The boy and his twin sister ended up living with their step-mom who ended up adopting them both. After the guy failed kindergarten and had to repeat it, his mother got mad at him and started neglecting him, pretty much giving him the silent treatment as long as possible. So then his twin sister stayed by his side and never left his side.
Today, the girl that was arguing lives on the other side of the country and thinks that her twin sister is a nut for believing in God and has no desire to ever see her twin sister again, and her twin sister thinks she's crazy for believing in witch craft and isn't interested in seeing her again, either.
The guy who was arguing was still neglected by his step-mom and wasn't really properly brought up by his parents, and ended up being what people now would think is outrageous. He wears eye makeup, blush, lipstick, has pink hair, wears skirts over his jeans, and gets made fun of for being gay "on the inside and out." And his sister ended up being one of the toughest girls in our school who wasn't afraid of anyone because she always defended her brother.
And it all goes back to that one argument in 1st grade...
