something i have always found
difficult to do is to stop comparing other people's lives to my own. i wish i knew how to stop glorifying someone else's life just because they may have something that i want but don't have. it's hard when you feel like everyone is doing better than you; when you feel like everyone is actually progressing, actually living -- and when you really look back at your life, nothing besides the minor things have really changed at all. it's hard to walk through narrow halls and sit in overcrowded classrooms just to hear about everyone's accomplishments and excitement and relationships, et. cetera -- when meanwhile, you can only nod along and listen to the good stuff drone into your ears as your chest begins to hurt and your bottle of disappointment overflows without your control. but sometimes, you have to realize that there is something out there that these people may really want and find themselves not being able to get as well. it may just be different from your wishes, and they may not want to discuss it -- which may be why it seems like their life is what you want. sometimes, you have to realize it just isn't going to be fair. life isn't fair. but we have to make the best out of the things that we cant control. you might feel like you never get your way, but the best thing to do about this is to accept your disappointment, focus on what you can control, and move on. if you know how to do this, then you're already doing better than most of us.
