Mommy Dear,
your little Cancer's
smiling,
it's her first day
of preschool
and you send her
with a kiss and a "you'll be okay"
she's so excited
innocence shining through
Mommy dear,
your little Cancer's
eyes are widening,
she's staring at
the little bundle in you arms
her eyes sparkling like little stars
you say "Meet your sister,
please treat her
with love and care,
& toys and clothes
you'll have to share....
Can you do that?"
Little Cancer smiles with a nod
and a "I'll do okay"
Mommy dear,
the new baby 's having it clear,
being smothered with attention,
while your little Cancer's facing her fears
of being alone in the dark
don't worry Mommy,
it's not your fault,
"I'll be okay"
kept her from falling apart
Mommy Dear,
your little Cancer
is crying,
but you are denying,
it's not intended,
you're just fooled,
the fake smile blended,
so well that even she,
cannot tell the difference,
"I'll be okay"
the same reference
Mommy Dear,
your little Cancer's
dying,
her heart was broken,
and no more tears,
were shown out in the open,
little Cancer's got no hope,
she's already lost,
but give her time if you must,
"I'll be okay"
was her only trust
Mommy Dear,
your little Cancer
will always be here,
don't worry Mommy Dear,
"I'll Be Okay"
your little Cancer,
is just fighting her biggest fears
