Also, the Percy Jackson series has a half white half native american, a hispanic, an african american, a chinese-canadian and for chrissake they have someone who's half goat. In the Kane chronicles, you have mixed race kids, and african american characters and an middle eastern wizard/witch/whatever. Please do not propogate the idea that white people cannot write about people of different cultures. It's ridiculous, the Alice in Deadland series by an INDIAN author has a white lead, surely the roles can be reversed.

Actually, in Casual Vacancy, JK Rowling wrote about a Sikh family. Also, in a dystopian universe, I don't think cultue would really be relevant(?). Rang De Basanti had a white charecter, and bollywood films (trust me, I know) are se.xist, ra.cist and ho.mophobic. Writers like Eva Ibbotson and Jacqueline Wilson have included non-white main characters despite being white, are you seriously telling me that no other author could put in even a tiny bit of effort to do some research? Not to mention, that western countries do have considerable populations of immigrants and natives.
