Witty is either a place for clever people to share thier cleverness with others, or a place for people to not think for themselves at all, and share that with others

It's a place for original, poetic, individual people, with creative expression, and a talent for writing and poetry, and things no one else has thought of

Or a place for lazy people to share their talent in copying and pasting quotes and song lyrics and thoughts from other people, and failing in being original or thinking up anything themselves, sort of like most people's Tumblr pages

Just saying. Original is always better. We all have brains, why do only some people use theirs?

Copied quotes aren't necessarily a bad thing! Everything in moderation.^^

Yes, but copied quotes are everywhere. all over tumblr. And if you try to be original and write your own stuff, people either like, don't care, or like it too much and copy what you write. I am not saying people who copy quotes are all "lazy" but it is very easy to copy quotes....and its unoriginal, what is the fun or interest in posting things when you don't think of them and when other people have already probably posted the same thing many times?

(I'm sorry I write so much, oml. I don't mean to. I'm not mad or anything either, though the sheer amount of text I posted may lead you to believe otherwise. ><)

Define a copied quote. Something you found and liked but happened to be written by something out, or something with 100k notes on Tumblr? Because there is a difference.

A lot of people really do value original work. One of my favourite faves ("favourite faves," lol) on Witty was an original poem. (I seriously love it to death.)

It is so much fun! You can mess with formatting. Or with grammar. Or make a witty comment about it in the tags. Or maybe the quote made it laugh so much it made you snort milk from your nose and you just had to share it. Or maybe it describes you perfectly or is your muse or helps you to smile when there are tears streaming down your face.

Original quotes may be underrated, but copied ones can be fun, too.^^

Both, are things I dislike, in terms of copied quotes. Things on tumblr with a 100k notes and something you found and liked, but found out its written by someone else....I mean, the quotes and the words are being written by only one person at first. it doesn't matter how much they get copied or used, it doesn't make the people reblogging or reusing something they didn't even think of "original, poetic, beautiful or deep" The original writer is the original, poetic, beautiful and deep one, for being brave and creative enough to share their thoughts. I have written my own stories and poetry my entire life, i don't look to other people for inspiration to write, I get inspiration from myself.....maybe other people don't see the harm in copying the same quotes and reusing them over and over, but I just think differently. If I were to start my own tumblr, I would post my own writing, and not so it could be copied or reblogged, writers want their words to be seen, not copied or passed off as someone else's thoughts. I have had my writing stolen from me before, by people who liked it so much, they just copied it. That sucked, it made me so angry, but sadly that kind of thing happens to writers all the time. Everyone wants to be poetic, deep thinking and creative. the problem is not everyone is, no matter how much they copy, the thoughts are not coming from their mind.......

Hey, man, I've had people write--and hack into a writing account of mine and delete my only copy of--my writing before, and I see where you're coming from, but I think it's also nice to value other people's words (as long as there is due credit). Posting and/or posting some Shel Silverstein or John Keats (those were the post two poets I thought of, lol) now and then doesn't make a poet any less of one.

It doesn't make a poet any less of one, but it also doesn't make the person copying or reblogging the poem or message "a poet"

Not at all! But it documents a quote or passage (etc) that meant a great deal to somebody at the time.^^
