seriously this should just be common sense, I don't understand why people don't thank anyone who compliments them

yeah, I genuinely don't understand that
what's worse is people who literally say "you're wrong" when someone compliments them, it's just plain rude.

It really is. I mean, of course at some point in your life you'll get a compliment you don't really believe in, but you should always thank the person. Just about every compliment I've gotten, I've thought in my head, "No, I'm not." but I still thank the person because I am glad they took the time to point out something they liked about me, whether I liked it too or not.
