One year
ago...
I started volunteering
at the animal shelter in my town.
Two weeks earlier, 3 puppies were found in a box on the
street,
hungry, and covered in fleas and dirt.
They were brought to the shelter and were cleaned up and put up
for adoption.
They were 3 sisters, all very cute and sweet.
Two of them were adopted within a few weeks.
The third one, however, wasn't as popular amongst visitors to
the shelter.
Her name was Rhoda.
She was at the shelter for weeks.
And then months.
And then an entire year had passed, and she hadn't found a
family.
She spent her entire puppyhood confined in a cold, concrete
kennel,
inside a noisy animal shelter.
She grew up there, and it was all she had every known.
I fell in love Rhoda several months ago.
She was always just the sweetest, most darling dog.
It's a mystery why nobody wanted her.
But today,
after living for one year and three months at the animal
shelter,
Rhoda found a home.
And that home, is with me.
