Hey Witty, I volunteered at Special Olympics!!!!
Something TRULY AMAZING happened to me this past weekend.
So I went with my church youth group and combined, the youth groups
number to about 120 people. We have this thing called youth
conference for age 14-18. We went to Special Olympics this
year.
We helped out at the Illinois Special Olympics. It's for people
who have physical and mental disabilities.
We were helping out at different sports and I got to help
out at the boys track and they were so adorable, especially the
little kids. I couldn't stop smiling all day, even though I
was tired. We helped from 7am-5pm. It was a long day. But it was
amazing.
I am insanely insecure, especially when it comes to my
appearance. There was 1 little boy that I was sitting next to,
but I was watching a different one. Well he looked at me straight
in the eye and told me,"you're pretty." It totally
made my day. I told him thanks! :) It was adorable. I knew right
then and there that I was, and I believed him because little kids
don't lie, especially this one who had down syndrome. These
disability kids are so innocent and they don't judge because
they don't know any better.
And please, think again about disability kids. They have feelings
too and all they want to be is loved by others. They really
opened my heart I don't know if that is possible because I
have a big heart already. But they're so sweet and loving,
you can't resist it.
I hope I can help out next year if my youth group conference
doesn't conflict with it!
