If you click on "Comments (3)" on that answer you'll see 3 people disagreeing with the person who stated that taking an "arrow to the knee" is slang for getting married.
It was simply a funny phrase made up by one of Bethesda's game designers to make the guards more lively NPCs.

I know, but it also is a Nordic phrase meaning that they got married.

Someone on that page wrote "It's not Nordic slang for getting married. The wording would never work in any Scandinavian language the same way it does in English.", but I don't really know any Scandinavian languages, so I can't exactly say it's true...
