it's not that i dislike my body
it's just that i don't particularly like it
sure it's soft and nice colored on the outside
but if you were to look under the skin
you would sigh with sympathy
you would see how my blood is filled with hate
and tears of all the nights i cried about wishing
i could just wake up
prettier
skinnier
less me
you would see that my bones are bruised
from all the times i fell when i was younger
and from all the times your harsh words sunk
deeper than my skin
my skin looks soft and pure
but underneath is sadness
and pain
and that is something after many years is
really really difficult to love
