Lying awake I think to myself
What had I ever done to lose you?
I wait for you as you slip away from my stony grasp
Like a slippery worm from a birds tight beak.
Every time you get close I feel my heart going boom, boom, boom
But then it all goes wrong
And I lose you again.
I realize I must be filled with the deepest of colds that could ever roam this earth
Because when I try to love you
You turn me down and leave me out to rot.
And I should know by now that I will never be yours again
But my hope gets the better of me
And leaps for you when you and I start to become closer.
I try to get you back but when will it begin again
Never I presume,
But that does not matter as I hope
Because my arms will still be open
as will my heart for you
I will still be lying awake at night
Even when it’s better that I leave us in the past
Every time you get close I feel my heart going boom, boom, boom
That will never happen because I still am lying awake at night.
