the fahrenheit thing is good for lot's of equasions in phisics... but the rest doesn't make sence

I'm doing A-Level Physics (11th/12th grade) and I use neither fahrenheit nor celsius since the absolute zeros in those temperatures are approximately −460° and −273°. I use Kelvin (K) where the absolute zero is, in fact, 0.

But kelvin and celsius have a one to one conversion? So isn't it just the same? I don't know. I'm basing this only on the heart of combustion equation in chemistry.

No, in chemistry you'll come across ideal gases that have an equation that requires the temperature to be in Kelvin since it is an absolute scale. That means that 0 K is the absolute zero and 200 K is exactly twice as much as 100 K, for example. In celsius, 0ºC (273 K) is the freezing point of water. 200ºC (473 K) is NOT twice as hot as 100ºC (373 K), it's just twice as far above the freezing point of water. If you used celsius in an ideal gas equation, say, to find the volume of a gas, you would be finding the volume to that gas compared to its volume at 0ºC, which wouldn't be very useful since the lowest temperature in celsius is about -273°. But it is true that kelvin and celsius have a one to one conversion, so if the equation talks about a temperature change you can use celsius or fahrenheit :)

Oh, that's cool. Can't say I remember everything I read but I learnt something new! I never learnt that bit of chem and I probably never will. Not going down that path!

or that.. sorry I'm kinda tired, forgot it, I was like, not celcius, must be that thing, but you're right

But why?the other system makes life way easier.

It's only the United States, Liberia and Burma that still use the Imperial units. I also don't get it either.

we still do a few maths lessons on imperial everyyear but noone remebers and maths is alreasy really hard withouthaving to remember units of measure

I'm from the US and don't even understand our measurement system. -_-

Join the dark side, we have nice measurement conversions :)

Hahahaha my US friends think I'VE got it wrong ;D

Well, look at it from this side: you will make accurate estimates and calculations your entire life while your US friends won't be able to without a calculator haha
