Too Good to be True

Chapter 3

Jared's P.O.V.

She was the first to pull away. She sat back and and bit her lower lip. Ugh, that was so cute. I smiled.
"So.. Friends right?" She asked. I was shocked
"Uhm.. Yeah.. Friends."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, Maxx, It's fine, I'm fine." I smiled to assure her that I meant it, but little did she know, it kinda killed me, "Why did you kiss me then?"
"Well, like I mean.. I don't know, I guess I just, it was nothing." Ouch. Thanks Maxx. 
"Oh, Okay.. Uhm.. We should probably get to bed. Do you wanna sleep in here and I can sleep on the couch in the living room?"
"Oh, uhm.. I was kinda hoping you would sleep with me.. in here." My eyes widened as I laughed hysterically.
"Not that way!" she yelled as she playfully swatted my arm. I layed down blankets and pillows for me on the floor and gave her a pair of my shorts and a t shirt to sleep in. I turned the light off before laying down.
"Well, Goodnight Jared"
"Goodnight Maxx."
I had a hard time getting to sleep that night. I couldn't stop thinking about Maxx. That kiss had to mean something. I could tell Maxx couldn't sleep either, because I could hear her shift uncomfortably in the bed.
After a few minutes of uncomfortably shifting, Maxx got up and came and laid down next to me, curling up in a little ball and resting her head on my chest. 
I wrapped my arms around her and whispered very quietly,
"I love you Maxx."

Thank God it's Saturday, so I didn't have to wake up early. I woke up and saw Maxx laying next to me. She looked so peaceful and beautiful lying there. I got up and went downstairs and got myself a bowl of cereal and was watching Spongebob. I heard a noise coming in the kitchen, I look and I see a very tired Maxx standing in the doorway. I just smile and laugh.
"What?" 
"Nothing.. but uh, it looks like you have a rats nest on your head." I laughed. She ran up and jumped on me making me spill some of my cereal.
"Ahh! No. That was like the best cereal ever. NO!" I joked. 
"I'm sorry." she laughed.
"No you're not. You meant to jump on me and spill my cereal."
"Did not!" 
"Okay. Whatever you say. But you still got a rats nest on your head." she swatted my arm playfully and kissed my cheek. I blushed. She laughed,
"I should probably go.." she said.
"Okay. Are you sure?"
"Yeah. I'll be fine. I'm a big girl now." she smiled.
"Alright." I laughed.
"I'll see you later then. Okay?"
"Okay, Bye Maxxine!!!" I yelled jokingly as she walked out the door.
