I Love to Hate You
Chapter 13
(back in Carly's POV)
I woke up the next morning and rolled over to look at my alarm clock. Except I didn't see what time it was, because Zayn's head was in the way. 
Wait, what? Why was Zayn in my bed? I thought he said that us almost hooking up was a one time thing. I guess he lied. Even after Harry caught us, we still made out and hooked up a lot. Things were just so easy with him, like he wasn't expecting a relationship or something. Which was a good thing.
So I guess you can call us 'friends with benefits.' Except nobody knows. 
So it's kind of a secret thing. And I'll admit, it's kind of fun. 
"Zayn, get up. Don't you have a photo shoot soon or something?" I asked, flicking his head in order to get him moving. 
"Yeah, I'm going." he said, getting out of my bed and walking to his room. 
I went and took a shower, then got dressed. I grabbed my phone and checked my messages. I had two new messages from Harry. 
Harry: Just found out some interesting news. 
Harry: Carly, I need to talk to you. It's important. 
I wonder what he wants to talk about... I texted him back and he sait it was urgent, so I told him I would meet him at the coffee shop downtown. I walked to the shop around the corner and saw Harry sitting in a booth. 
"Hey, what's up?" I asked, sitting across from him. I ordered an iced coffee and talked to Harry while waiting for it. 
"Okay, well this is some pretty big news, and I honestly have no idea how you're going to take it." he said, warning me. Oh great. 
"Harry. What's going on?" I asked again, growing impatient. 
"It's about Liam." he said, and I was getting anxious. 
"Harry. Just tell me." 
"Liam, um. Liam likes you." he told me. 
"You're lying. He doesn't like me. He doesn't hate me, but he doesn't like me either." I said, trying to convince myself of it. 
"No, he likes you. He even told me himself." he said. 
"I don't get it though. Why wouldn't he tell me?" I asked, confused. 
"He said he tried to, but couldn't bring himself to say it. Oh, and he would be extremely mad if he knew I told you. I wasn't supposed to tell anyone, let alone the person that he actually likes." Harry said. Great. So Liam liked me, and I was hooking up with his best friend. Could this get any more complicated?
"Okay, well I have to go. But you didn't hear this from me." he said, getting up and leaving. I was left in shock, wondering how things could have gone from Liam hating me to Liam liking me in that way. 
I grabbed my coffee and started walking back to my apartment. The shop was close, but the walk was still a good twenty minutes. And with my luck, it started to downpour as I was about halfway home. I heard a truck pull up next to me, and I saw a guy in the driver's seat. Liam. 
"Need a ride?" he asked, and I shook my head no. 
"Come on. You're going to get soaked." he said, trying again. 
"Liam, I'm fine. It's not that far of a walk." I said.
"Get in." he said, and I gave in. I opened the door and pulled myself up into the big truck. It was quiet for a few minutes before I spoke up. 
"Thanks for giving me a ride. I really appreciate it." I mumbled. I didn't know how to act towards Liam now that I knew he liked me. 
"Anytime." he said, adjusting the volume on the radio. 
"Liam, you seemed like you had something important to tell me last night, but I was so busy you never had time. What was it?" I asked, trying to get him to admit that he liked me. Which was going to be hard. 
"Okay, I guess I can tell you. The truth is, I don't hate you Carly. As a matter of fact, the only reason I was ever mad at you is because you switched schools. And I liked you, a lot. I felt terrible for pretending to be cool and not talk to you. It was killing me, and now I realize what I want. To be with you." he said. 
I was stunned. I didn't know how to respond. So I didn't. I got out of the car at a stop sign and ran the rest of the way to my flat. Because I didn't want Liam to know that I felt the same way too.
