I Love to Hate You
Chapter 12
LIAM'S POV
Why won't she forgive me? I know I was a jerk, but I was kinda hoping she would look past that. Apparently not. I wasn't going to give up that easily though.
I got into my car and drove to the karaoke club, since I was hoping that's where Carly is. But when I walked in and saw the crowd, I knew she would be impossible to find. I spotted her cousin Madison and called her over.
"Is Carly here?" I asked, my voice loud.
"Yeah, she's in the back." she screamed to me, in order to be heard.
"Right, thanks." I said, walking towards the back room. I knocked on the door and heard her voice.
"One minute!" she called, shuffling around the room. She opened the door a few seconds later, and I saw Zayn sitting in the chair next to her desk playing with a pencil. She was staring at me expectantly. 
"Hi, I didn't mean to interrupt." I said, glancing at Zayn.
"Oh, Zayn was just leaving." she said, and he got out of the chair, then made a goofy face when he passed me. Did he have lip gloss on his cheek?
"What's up?" Carly asked, moving papers around and organizing her desk.
"I need to tell you something. Important." I started off, and she looked up at me. Gosh, it was so hard not to get lost in those eyes. 
"Go on." she said, crossing her arms. 
"Well, I know I apologized. But I really need you to know that I'm not the same guy. I've changed, I really have." I said. 
"You've told me that. I believe you." she said, turning her back to me. 
"But for some reason, I don't think you do believe me." I responded. 
"Liam, I'm really busy right now. What did you have to tell me?" she asked, sounding slightly annoyed. Should I tell her? But if I do, then I have to face the fact that she might reject me. Why would I tell her? There's no way she could possibly like me. I broke her heart. I'm the reason she changed. 
I liked her the way she was during high school. Why did I do that? I was such a jerk. There's no way I can tell her what I want to.
"Um. I, um. I'm sorry. Really sorry." I said, shoving my hands in my pockets.
"You said that already." she said, flipping through a folder. 
"Right. Okay, well, see you later." I said, walking out of the back room. 
Once again, I blew my chance. I walked out into the club and everybody was having a good time. I walked over to Zayn and Harry, sitting at the bar. 
"Hey guys. You should go sing." I said, teasing them. 
"No Liam, you should go sing. With that girl. She seems into you." Harry said, pointing to Madison. He's joking, right? 
"Harry, that's Carly's cousin. There's no way she's into me." I responded. 
"You're right. I'm just messing with you." Harry said.
"Jerk. I'm going to get some air, I'll be back." I said, walking out of the club. 
I walked the streets near the karaoke bar for a while before going back. I really needed to clear my head, because I wasn't thinking straight. 
I went back to the club and walked in to see a bunch of people dancing together to some fast pop song. I searched for Harry and Zayn, but couldn't find them anywhere. Until I looked on the dance floor. I saw Zayn dancing extremely close to some beautiful girl with long hair tied in a ponytail. Was that Carly? 
It was. But I didn't care, right? Wrong. 
I was jealous. Because whether I wanted to admit it or not, I liked Carly.
