Chapter Six
When I wake up, Lilly is already awkake.
Just like she always was when we were kids. I sit up, I can't
quite remember how I even got to my bed. Before I can say
anything, Lilly starts talking.
"Last night," She laughs.
"We were so dead tired."
"I don't even remember coming upstairs." I throw
the covers off, and pull out an outfit from my dresser. I choose
a pair of white shorts, and a pink shirt.
"I, being the wonderful friend I am, helped you
upstairs." She looks at me. "You were half asleep going
up the stairs, it was so funny." I can't imagine how I
looked.
I go into the bathroom, and get dressed. I do a little make-up,
and my hair. I throw it up in a ponytail, getting it perfect the
first time. Lilly gives me a stare-down.It's not something
she's used to seeing me in. When we were kids, I'd wear
baggy jeans, and glitter shirts. Now, I wear tight shirts, and
the only glitter is in my jewelry or make-up. She's dressed
in equally short shorts, and a baggy shirt.
"I like your shirt." She smiles.
"Hollister?"
"Mhm, where's yours from?" I look at it. It looks
like one of my brother's shirts.
"Oh, from my dad, his company had a few extras, so they gave
one to me."
"For real?" I raise an eyebrow.
"No." She chuckles to herself. "It's an old
friends."
"Who's this 'old friend'?" I put air quotes
around old friend.
"His name is Bryce." She admits. We sit down, and she
tells me everything about him. Even stuff I could've gone my
whole life without knowing. When she's done talking about
him, my mom yells that it's breakfast time.
After breakfast, Lilly convinces me to go outside. I take a deep
breath, and close the door behind me. Lilly keeps telling me that
everything is alright. "Come on, Riley, stop being so
nervous. You're in a gated community." She tells me.
Once we get to the small park for the community, we race to the
swings. "Ha, beat ya, just like I always
did."
"I let you win, everytime." I joke.
"Woah." Lilly says, totally avoiding my joke towards
her.
"What?" I look at her.
"Over there, I think it's Bryce." Her jaw drops,
and the apples of her cheeks turn a bright red. "Oh my gosh,
oh my gosh, he's coming over here. Riley. Oh my
gosh."
"Calm down." I look at her seriously.
"Hey, um sorry, but um, Lilly?" The boy, Bryce looks at
her. He has semi-long dark hair, with bright eyes. She looks at
him, still not replying. I nudge her arm to get her out of her
trance.
"Yeah?" Lilly shakes out of it.
"It's Bryce, but you already knew that." He stops
himself. "I was wondering if you wanted to hang out again
sometime, it was always fun before. I tried calling your house,
but your parents kept hanging up on me." He rubs the back of
his neck nervously.
"Uh, sorry about them, and yeah, I'd love to hang out
sometime. I'm actually in the process of moving back here, so
it might be awhile."
"It's alright. You know my number, call me." He
nods his head towards her, and walks away. Lilly looks at me with
an awkward look in her eye, one that I can't read that
well.

but I wanted to write so bad! But I'm still asking for
feedback, and ten faves to continue. It'd mean a lot. Thank
